They're normally bang on 12pm with the squad announcements, so there's definitely something going on. My gut feeling is we won't play Catalans on Thursday and there'll be a hastily arranged playoff series starting instead.

Quite simply there can't have been any credible scenario plans developed. Someone at the club has been found wanting & not done their job. It's gross misconduct in my view. Of course it's complicated & a moving feast but that's why options are always developed to work out a range of risk/reward options that are updated as circumstances change. I don't know who is accountable for doing the analysis but I'd assume KW would be accountable for demanding they be developed & maintained up to date. Can't have been done.

Its possible the players themselves would have had some sort of input to the selection variables by convincing themselves they were going to beat the Goons. The buck does stop at Woolf though.

Surely the imbalance of that scenario is ridiculous. If that is the case then they should just void the games and take off the win and the 24 points Warrington were awarded.

Wigan haven't announced their squad for Thursday either. Can only assume the league is getting scrapped now.

It's just been on the Star website saying discussions are taking place how to end the season. My feeling is that they will hastily draw up a new fixture play off system or potentially abandon the season.

probably a bit late for that, they are presumably back in France now. They are saying they were asked on Sunday night to come on Monday and stay here for the rest of the season, which is a bit much to ask the players and staff at such short notice.

It would have made sense for them to stay at least this week and play their game yesterday, and again on Thursday.

I saw an article that said 3, then it was changed to "numerous" shortly after.

I don't think abandoning the season is an option at all. They will need to fulfil the obligations with SKY one way or another.

St Helens Star saying decision on how league ends expected later today. So I assume clubs already know hence no squad news.

The article mentions a top 6 playoff, not 5. A top 6 playoff would mean us having this week off then Wigan next week for a place in the final!

Argh! That's just reminded me I had money one Saints to finish top. I'd totally forgotten with all that's been happening. Given our feck-up over the last 2 games, I'm pretty glad actually.

That assumes the format that was in place from 2003 to 2008 would be employed.

    It might be 3 v 6 and 4 v 5 with 1 and 2 then hosting the two winners in the semi-finals.

Seems pointless to reinvent the wheel now at such short notice. Go with a tried and tested format for the rest of the season to get it done.

Its possible Wire could get 6 pts in total for playing 1 game.

    Wigan v Hudds
    Wakey v Salford

This week's games. LLS on the line in the Wigan game. If they lose its ours on win %> if they win it's theirs.

Then it's Top 6 play offs.

    1 and 2 week off.
    3 v 6 (Wire v Hull)
    4 v 5 (Leeds v Catalans)

    Then Semis
    1st v lowest placed winners
    2nd v highest placed winners

    Then Grand Final

What is the point of the Wakey and Salford game?

And that's a different playoff structure altogether isn't it compared to what we've seen before? We've now got 2 weeks off then a straight knockout game?
