I think Batchelor has to start. Given he joined at a similar time as Bentley he needs a chance to show if he is worth persisting with.

I agree with a few people that it would be good to see Kevin or Tommy at fullback. If for nothing else so we know one can fill in if Coote gets injured in a big game. Welsby does seem to get caught out under the high ball.

Dodd and Fages had a lot of practice in pre season as a combination so you suspect that is what they will go for.

I would like to see Nisbet and Foster get games. Nisbet is behind Grace and Makinson so his chances are likely to be few and far between. Foster is our only promising untested backrower which given the age of our pack if he can step up in the next couple of years that would be a huge bonus.
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.

I believe Nisbet is starting on the wing tomorrow.

Don’t forget there’s Wingfield who is a backrower too.

We've got some good youngsters coming through, was told to watch out for Jumah Sambou and Taylor Pemberton but Covid has stalled everything on that front. We will struggle for another James Graham though.

If we give a few youngsters a run out I won’t even be annoyed if we lose. I’m looking forward to this game more than any this strange season. I hope I haven’t failed to manage expectations.

We have all been calling for youngsters to get a chance so we can't complain if we lose; though I will be elated if we win. My only concern is so many of them at once. But as with you I will be glued to the TV for this one.

I don't know much about Sambou but Pemberton is a very good prospect who was sought after by quite a few clubs.

Sambou played rugby union at Warrington tried league then I'm not sure but Saints snapped him up. Initially a quick second rower with raw talent but I,m pretty sure he played the odd game out at centre/wing before lockdown.

I would guess this. I am surprised that Simm is in the 21 given he played 80 mins a few days earlier.

    22. Jack Welsby,
    2. Tommy Makinson,
    3. Kevin Naiqama,
    21, Matty Costello,
    30, Tom Nisbet,

    7. Theo Fages,
    27, Lewis Dodd,

    8. Alex Walmsley,
    19. Aaron Smith,
    32. James Graham.
    23, Joe Batchelor,
    12, Dom Peyroux,
    18, Joseph Paulo,

    24, Josh Eaves,
    16. Kyle Amor,
    17, Jack Ashworth,
    31, Jake Wingfield,

    14. Morgan Knowles,
    20. James Bentley
    26, Josh Simm,
    29, Matty Foster,
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.

Agree strongly. We have excellent Academy players and these are the games they can use for them to step up and be blooded, so to speak. Don't be surprised if Royle and Nisbet get a game.

I'm certain I remember him from junior rugby playing for Woolston Rovers at the same age as one of mine. If it's the one I'm thinking of, at that age (about under 14s I think) he was a strong fast player, but you can't really judge from that age to now.

Yes it was the Woolston club, I'm pretty sure he left that service area because he was attracted to the saints lads going on tour to OZ, I think he raised his own funds to get there. Reminded me of a Sonny Nickel when I saw some footage.

With all the uncertainty as to what on earth the end of season play off situation is now going to be, how can coaches be expected to, er, coach? We all know that teams are picked to suit circumstances, yet here we are not knowing what those circumstances are! Posters have already suggested different permutations such as one more win and we're top or conversely if we lose to Salford Wigan may finish top. At the same time we don't even know what advantage there will be in finishing top (apart form the LLS). It's an utter shambles. I really do think that we should play the remaining fixtures and forget any play offs.

Very true Woolf would have put out a full strength team tonight if the fixtures were to be suspended after the weekend and the LLS was decided.

Some fans might remember we have been here before we lost the championship with Wigan when the RFL announced no relegation on the last set of games of the season we had won our game before the announcement but the day after Wigan played the "relegated" side that side eased off and lost by a big score, think we missed out on points difference.

If Sambou is the one I am thinking about, he is a black lad and looked really good on the highlights on the Australia Academy Tour. Big and strong, he looked to have some pace too. Looked a real prospect, admittedly only from the limited highlights that I saw.
