Meant to put 21 man squad in the title. This is probably the strongest 17 on paper out of the squad named, all depends how many of the regulars he actually wants to rotate

    Welsby
    Makinson
    Naiqama
    Simm
    Costello
    Fages
    Dodd
    Walmsley
    Smith
    Amor
    Peyroux
    Bentley
    Knowles

    Eaves
    Graham
    Ashworth
    Batchelor

I’ve said on another thread that the adventure starts here. This at least perks up my interest. Dodd as a starting half? Smith starting hooker with Eaves spelling him? I haven’t got a clue but it makes life interesting.

    Welsby
    Makinson Naiqama/Costello Simm Nisbet
    Dodd Fages
    Graham ASmith Amor
    Peyroux Bentley
    Knowles

    Eaves Wingfield Walmsley Forster/Batchelor

Ashworth and Paulo still nowhere to be seen.

It’s an interesting squad all told and gives us quite a lot of flexibility

Strong as possible to start, get it won then bring off the likes of Graham, Walmsley and Fages.

We're guessing really on what he'll go with though

Be difficult as Salford will probably be as full strength as they can be. Be good to see how the youngsters go against a decent side. Game should still be winnable.

Yep, their squad is pretty strong..

There's a danger of playing youngsters for the sake of it. We need to strike the right balance

I think you’ve missed out Smith as starting hooker.

Woolf probably knows the importance of the Derby and is more willing to take a risk on this.

    My Choice would be:-

    1. Makinson

    2. Costello
    3. Naiqama
    4. Simm
    5. Grace

    6. Welsby
    7. Dodd

    8. Graham
    9. Smith
    10. Lees
    11. Peyroux
    12. Bentley
    13. Knowles

    14. Ashworth (prop)
    15. Paulo (prop)
    16. Batchelor
    17. Fages

Most important player for options will be Fages, can play Hooker to spell Smith or play scrum half if Dodd has a nightmare but don't expect the latter.

No win situation here. Saints need as strong a team as possible for Friday’s game so if they lose on Monday so be it. Gives the youngsters/fringe players a chance to show where they're at. Maybe 4/5 in the actual 17 as opposed to most of them from the named squad.
Nisbet, Foster, Eaves Wingfield to miss out for me.

Just thinking the same myself. The challenge is getting enough rotation built in to give the inexperienced a fair crack of the whip instead of being on the back foot all match as it's too weak. Clearly Salford will have a go assuming they've something left in the tank.

    I would go full fringe.

What's the worst that could happen , drop 2 points.
Wigan ,Leeds Wire all lost at least 2 points by playing a development team.
Valuable experience for the squad players.

3 games in 7 days is a big ask.

Good balance here but he seems certain to play Welsby somewhere?

Dodd is that good he can play two positions at the same time!

Salford have gone full strength with their squad. Be interesting to see how that plays into Wolfe’s thinking with our team selection. I’m sure the coaching staff would’ve expected Salford to rest a few and rotate more than they have.

The other dilemma might be if the club expect Walmsley to get a ban. Do you play him on Monday knowing he might potentially miss the Wigan game? You could rest him Monday and then he cops a ban on the Tuesday.

    I would go with,

    Welsby
    Makinson
    Costello
    Simm
    Nisbet
    Dodd
    Fages
    Graham
    Smith
    Amor
    Bentley
    Peyroux
    Paulo

    Eaves
    Batchelor
    Ashworth
    Foster / Wingfield

I'm assuming Walmsley has been put in there in case he is brought up by the disciplinary on Monday, with a potential match ban effective for the Wigoon game and not the Salford game. If he just gets a warning will Woolf then rest Walmsley for the pending game with the Wigoons.
