    Default No Scrums

Does the lack of scrums works as a disadvantage to us by allowing the opposition to get eleven players set in their defensive line instead of being tied in a scrum?

Not if the referees policed the lying on.

Only temporary, eventually it takes its toll on the opposition with the amount of defensive work they have to do. Come "rain or shine" we can play with pressure for the full 80 mins most of the other teams might have a good 15-20 min spell but Saints don't really go away it was only in the early season Wire game we didn't feature but I think we still had the scrums then.

I just feel that we lose impetus while defences take 30 seconds before we can play the ball, perhaps only allow ten seconds or msybe bring scrums back.

Me too! Surely we should scrap the thirty second thing and just allow the ref to say "play the ball". If the defenders aren't square, it's a penalty.

We are seeing the weaker teams use it to their advantage to peg the Saints and others with a good kicking game to peg us into our own quarter. Saints kicking game is good if organised the likes of Hull KR and Wakey used it well against us and Warrington have been successful in strangling us by similar kick pressure.

With scrums Fages and Lomax had less of a sliding defence to contend with. Now with no scrums, Fages is struggling and hasn't got the space to work with and with him not being a natural half back he is limited and is often caught in two minds.

I would say yes as for the last 2 years we had a very effective double crash move off the base of the scrum that got us a fair few tries.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

The set piece from the scrum at the GF worked a treat.
