It’s official. Harlequins have confirmed it.

That'd be good. Get some experience as head coach before taking over here!

Could be?... with there being an opening. Wouldn't be a bad move - to test out if he's got the temperament for a head coach role - and work his way up. He's certainly got the talent.

Does anyone think he'll be back at Saints at some point in the future?

Hope so, bit of deja vu in a coaching career form perhaps on the horizon.

Perhaps he could sort us a couple of plays out while he's on the train back North to fill his time?

It’d be great to have him back in RL, perhaps he couldn’t understand a word the toffs were saying. Or an interview by SlimeBall John Inverdale was the final straw.

I would love to see him back here, sooner rather than later.

I’d rather Long as our head coach than Woolf, we wouldn’t be anywhere near as boring to watch I imagine.

Me too. He’s doing things the right way by getting experience under his belt, unlike KC.

The Widnes job would be ideal as a stepping stone to the Saints job once Woolf naffs off.

I don’t think certain people realised the input that Long had on our team. He should have got the job. Big mistake

Instead the gig was awarded to a highly regarded coach of international standing hugely respected for his organisational and technical skills within the field of all-in wrestling

Do you think that after the KC debacle that the board may of been very wary of giving another club legend the main job to soon ?

It could have been. But despite a great rugby brain I think there may have been doubts about his maturity. While I would love Longy back at Saints, after tonight, I think in time we may think that Watson was the one that got away.

Longy had some good backers though that he would make a good coach for the future............came from both Millward and Anderson the likes of Cunningham and Scully legends didn't even get a mention. If Longy makes a good impression at Widnes, then if it comes down to Longy or Watson, it would be Longy for me.

Spot on - I wouldn't have a problem with either of them tbh. Hope Longy can cut the mustard at Widnes if that's where he ends up

But where does that get him? Surely he’ll want head coach experience unless, of course, Leeds are paying him silly money. I’d love him back home at Saints.

TBF Agar is a fraud. Longy may just need to keep his nose clean for a few months and could walk into a top job. I'd have him back in some capacity tomorrow.

I'm not his biggest fan but wouldn't say he was a fraud. Just a bang average coach.

I could be completely wrong here but that Leeds performance on Saturday appeared to me like it had Sinfield's fingerprints all over it.

If they give him a decent deal, Longy, Agar & Sinfield could make a good coaching team

I'm not sure under what circumstances Long left the Saints but it would be great to see him back. What Richard Marshal brings to the team I have no idea, he may be doing a good job, or not but I would prefer Longy in that role. If Marshal could be persuaded to go for the Widnes job and bring Longy in would be great, that is if Saints could match/beat the renumeration being offered at Widnes and the promise of further promotion say within 3 or 4 years.
