Change that will impact on all clubs. Dual Reg to be abolished.
Season long loans ok but can't train with your parent clubs.
Add this to the new rules that will change the age profile of players particularly forwards.
Going to leave a number of 20 to 22 year olds in no man's land.
The smarter clubs will look to offload their 30+ players at the end of their contracts
and look to pick up 20-22 year olds who other clubs struggle to accommodate.
This will also reduce costs at a time when budgets are under pressure.
I assume this is going to be in tandem with a return of reserve grade rugby next season (if a vaccine's been released, or we just think 'f*ck it')
If so, then I think this move is very much needed. I've never liked dual-reg, and would prefer fringe/junior players to be kept in-house. They'll learn more that way.
And if past positions are anything to go by, it'll annoy the hell out of Hetherington.
Peyroux the least worst of KC signing's
not an especially high bar tbh!
He's ok had a golden year under Justin but hasn't done much this year, wouldn't be a huge loss in all honesty
I thought reserve grade had only been canned for the current season - have I got that wrong?
I got the info from TotalRl: "But with reserve grade not returning until 2022, young players now face the predicament of spending the year playing Academy rugby while waiting for first-team opportunities, or sacrificing full-time training to play first-grade games."
I can't see anything about it on the RFL website (maybe I'm not looking in the right place!)
