Default Match Review Panel – August 31

Morgan Smithies of Wigan Warriors has been issued with a two-match penalty notice after today’s meeting of the RFL Match Review Panel on a Grade C charge of headbutting in Saturday’s Betfred Super League fixture against Castleford Tigers.

Smithies has also been ordered to appear at a tribunal tomorrow on a Grade D charge of dangerous contact, following an incident in the 43rd minute of the match.

Suaia Matagi of Huddersfield Giants has been issued with a two-match penalty notice on a Grade C charge of dangerous contact in the 58th minute of Sunday’s Betfred Super League fixture against Hull FC.

Joe Cator of Hull FC has been issued with a one-match penalty notice on a Grade B charge of dangerous contact in the 45th minute of the same fixture.

If Smithies is found guilty of the Grade D charge that's another 3-5 matches

aaron smith cited twice with one caution.

    Very often gets referred.

Never seem to notice him in terms of questionable activities yet gets plenty of scrutiny
    and a couple of bans.

Somebody keeps a close eye on him.

He can't do much about that except look at his technique.

If has said he already has a 3 match ban and say he gets a further 4 for the crusher does he serve seven or do they run concurrently? IE 4 weeks?

It's Wigan. They subtract the second ban from the first, making minus 1. He'll get an 'overtime' bonus for the extra week he's been available for.

Luke Thompson used to get referred for knee up in the tackle when he first started, couple of warnings then a ban.
Think Aaron is the rolling of a tackled players leg thought I heard the ref warning him yesterday.

It was Millingtons fault! If he'd collapsed clutching his face (like Blake Austin did the other week, the Oscar's in the post Blake) and given Childs time to be told what happened instead of saying "play on" (very Robert Hicks!) Smithies would've been sent off. Doubtless Smitihies will get the big build up upon his return ala Big Ben Flower.

That assumes Smithers gets a decent ban.

But if he does, then yeah - Sky playing Elgar's 'Nimrod' as they do a soft-focus promo-piece on this gentle lad from Platt Waz who over the past year has made so much progress towards being able to write his own name.

It would be interesting if he tried anything like that against Walmsley or Graham would the grub survive the 80 mins.

A total of six matches after pleading guilty 4 for the main charge and two for the earlier butt, so out of the Saints game,

It won't bother him playing against those two, although he may be consider having a tetanus jab in case Jamma bites him and wear box to keep him protected from Tommy two tugs.
In reality he got "daddied" by old head Millington, who was holding his shirt trying to win the penalty and finished up stupidly head butting him.

As I always say, let the disciplinary do their job and they've made their decision, so he'll have to sit out a few games, hopefully he'll have learned his lesson from his 1st time in front of the judge. He's a good young player, there's no doubt but he'll have to cool it.
I suppose we'll have to see how Joe Shorrocks goes, he's another who won't take a backward step.

Did Clare also 'daddy' him into the crusher tackle?

Thats because he wouldn't go into a crusher neck tackle on Walmsley or a head butt on Graham because there would be only one outcome but I wouldn't put it past him to try it on with Coote, Grace or Lomax. Don't know why you mentioned Joe Shorrocks unless he is being trained up by Ben Flower as as the next future grub as well.
