Default Positive covid test at Saints

    https://www.saintsrlfc.com/2020/08/1...ate-august-19/

Doesn't sound too bad at the minute. Hopefully the staff member and their family are fine and fingers crossed no spread among the rest of the club.

I suppose if it had to happen then before a bye weekend was the best time for it to happen.

I believe Eccleston Park is becoming a hot spot for positive Covid, don't we have playing and coaching staff living in that area.

The main issue will be who the member of staff has come into contact with? If it’s one of the coaching or conditioning staff that’s tested positive then most if not all of the players will need to self isolate for 14 days. With the Hull KR game less than 14 days away then this fixture must be in doubt. Given that we won’t even be able to train then it’s impossible to prepare for a game.

All would depend on the last contact with the individual and their role like you say

Someone like Woolf strangely may have had very little close contact with the players, whereas a physio has hands on.

Similarly some of the analysts may have had no close contact with the players.

    Hopefully it's a ball boy

    It said NON playing staff.

Seriously though, it's in the post for most teams so this is probably as good a time as any.

Has since tested negative, so possibly a false result

And another. This time a player not in the squad last week. Two others who didn't play also now isolating.

One positive test at Wire as well to go with the six already isolating. Doesn't half feel like this whole season is balanced on a knife edge.

I know what you mean regarding the season but looking at it from another point of view it adds another dynamic, although I'd probably be less chipper if we lost half our squad.

3 positives in 598 that is a positive rate of 0.5%. No testing procedure is 100% accurate (especially where a manual procedure is required). At a positive rate of 0.5% surely we are now within the tolerance of the testing and with such a small number of positives they need to retest to check that they are not false positives.

True. It's certainly a test of squad depth, particularly for teams who have injuries as well. With Percy, Makinson, Taia and Roby out, losing another half a dozen through isolation would make life pretty difficult. And we probably have one of the better squads.

It will finish one way or another, but it's going to get to the point where the RFL might simply have to get as many games played as possible and then decide a top four on a points per game basis as happened in Leagues One and Two in football.

If I'm reading it correctly the 2 who are self isolating haven't tested positive but they may have been in the company of someone who has. that maybe the Saints player who has tested positive or someone not connected to the club at all.

That can happen anytime to anyone. This is just going to be something we are going to have to live with for a long time

The way I have read it there are 3 players isolating who did not take part in last weeks game so players missing for the tonights game will just be the injured ones with the exception Knowles if he is one of the 3.

Leeds put on the government's 'Covid Watch List'

Perhaps temporarily drop Shedingly as a venue?

Pure speculation but could Dodds be one player in isolation as he is not in the team tonight. Welsby taking Fages place. Simm, and Ashworth come in.
Humans are more concerned with having than being.

A Wigan player has tested positive after the game against HKR. Could have implications for our next fixture.

According to Sky no close contacts traced, so hopefully if no other player tests positive we should be all right, but we don't know if all the results are in yet, so the season is going to go on like this , waiting on tenterhooks for "result day" stressful time for all concerned
