Default New normal for RU. And for RL?

So the proposal for RU is:
First touch tackle player can pass, kick or keep on running
Second touch tackle the player must throw the ball up, catch and pass while the defence get on-side.
If there are no mistakes the attacking side has eight phases to score.

    IÂ’ve checked itÂ’s not AprilÂ’s Fools Day.

This and the tackle below the waist might change RU significantly.

Can you RL changing the basics of the game in such a way or will RL be the beneficiary of such a dramatic change to the game?

I genuinely don't see the point? It'll look ridiculous for one and what is it stopping? If you are still tackling an opposition player, you are passing bodily fluids etc, breathing on them. So what good does doing this actually do?

Regardless of how stupid or contrived these rules appear, there doe seam to be a desire to limit the number of phases that a team have in RU

Just checking are these rules meant for kids rugby?

I can understand it if they were but for adult game rucks/mauls/scrums are key factors, if you take them away it isn't the same sport but to try and tinker with the rules to make the game Covid safe seems pointless whilst they are still there

RL has dispensed with scrums for the rest of this season, maybe we could have a rule whereby only two defenders are allowed in a tackle but it would be difficult for players to adapt to it especially if it was on the try line

I don't see the point either. I'm not sure I can imagine what that will look like but it won't look even close to being right.

If they can't play RU safely they shouldn't play at all.
