Someone earlier mentioned Jelly Legs, appropriate he looked out apart from his teammate holding him up.

Even the most law abiding anti violence supporter couldn't argue that it was well and truly deserved and couldn't have happened to a more obnoxious recipient.

That's the trouble with trying to be the hard man there is always someone harder and it usually is someone who you would least expect that dumps them on their ar5e.

Thing is, he wasn't a 'hard man'. He was a snidey cheap-shot merchant. Bit like that tw*t Newton.

Players like Sculthorpe or Peacock - they're proper hard men

Newton was a proper hard •••••••, I'm not saying he wasn't a snide but he was tough as they come.

Bailey was just a bully, always 3rd man in, always hit a kicker late when they were unprotected and would always go after a smaller player. Every time someone roughly his size went for him he shat himself. He wasnt a hard man, just a thug who thought he was.

On a different note, i have found a video of Rugby League boxing on YouTube, which Scully won:

Or Fe'aunati throwing a few at Wild whilst he was holding Wilkin so Newton could throw a few at him. Think that was 2004 when Scully and Farrell went at each other. Now they where 2 hard men.

Does anyone else remember David Fairleigh and Barrie McDermott having a pop at each other in back play at Knowsley Road? Barrie threw a punch and hit Fairleigh square on the jaw and Fairleigh didn’t even flinch. I’m pretty sure he then dished out a few of his own which definitely landed. It was a TV game so there’ll be a clip somewhere!!

Yes, was at that game myself. The funny thing is I've met barrie mcdermott a few times in Oldham since then and he's one of the most polite people you could ever wish to meet

I’ve found the game in this video, doesnt show the headbutt, just the scuffle and Cowie walking off with a bloody nose, its brilliant how he only got a sin bin for it. Its at 4:20 onwards.

Cheers mate. That tackle from Jarrod McCracken on Dean Bell was a belter. I'm sure that was the 41-6 Boxing Day game, still one of my favourite games ever.

Ah, right. 5-4 they won didn't they? I'm sure he put one on Bell in the 41-6 game too, almost certain in fact, just in front of the scaff.
