I don’t think he has been released immediately
The report says he’s been released from the final year of his contract. His contract was up to the end of 2021
I take this as meaning he leaves Manly at the end of this season and will be at Saints for the start of 2021 season

You appear to be the only person I’ve seen so far that doesn’t rate him.

Players’ player of the year last season at Manly.
All NRL fans on social media saying what a loss he is to Manly, Manly fans also upset to see him go.

Looks a quality signing, not seen one Manly fan say a bad word yet and they’re a quality side so he must have something about him to be playing every week. Good to see it looks like there’s going to be no cost cutting when it comes to recruitment. I think both Taia and Peyroux need replacing so hopefully another second row and a couple of props will be signed, then we should be good to go. I think we could do with a scrum half as well but no chance of that happening.

Never heard of him to be honest, seems well thought off and a big lad.

I'm not sure I'd say he was superb but he had a good season. I do wish he'd learn to step of his left instead of his right he's always stepping away from his Centre.

What side does Thompson play for Manly?

Left. He’ll be replacing Taia I imagine.

    What's your point?

I've given my opinion and have said I'll be really happy if I'm wrong.

I've seen probably 60% of the games he's played since he moved to manly so I'm basing my opinion on what I've seen not what people on Twitter think.

I'm not going to get into a long, pointless debate about it, let's just see what happens

    My thoughts too.
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.

He wasn’t, he was pretty average as usual. He’s become a bit of a fans favourite because he’s gone from being one of our worst overseas players ever to good enough to get in the team. Can’t fault his attitude but he misses a lot of tackles and brings the ball inside every time he gets it. He shouldn’t get a new contract.

Interesting signing. Zeb Taia is going to be really hard to replace for you guys. He is one of the best signings you have made in the past 20 years. An unsung hero who gets through a ton of work. Joel Thompson looks like he may be a stop gap for a better signing further down the line but with Super League in it's current climate a solid second rower isnt a bad signing on the face of it.

That, quite clearly, isn’t the case. We haven’t signed a 31 year old, who plays every week for a top 6 NRL side, on a 3 year deal as a stop gap. Manly fans are disappointed he’s left with one saying he’s better than Taia. Wouldn’t shock me if he’ll be on more money than Taia as well.

Time will tell. But will be sad to see Zeb go. Think he's been a really good signing. Skillful and hard working. Joel Thompson looks a good signing hopefully he will be a success.

I’m with you i don’t know what all the fuss is over him he’s very predictable and leaves gaps when he’s defending. He spends more time on the wing stretching his legs instead of taking the ball in.

I can't say I'm thrilled at his signing to be honest. He doesn't seem to have the skill Taia does with the ball and isn't really a grafter.

He’s a quality player playing for one of the better NRL teams getting loads of game time.

For the past 2 seasons I have been thinking Zeb is past it, but he keeps proving me wrong. I can't remember the last SR we had that was as good as Zeb at putting his centre into space.

I'm just watching Manly V Canterbury, he looks solid enough in defense but doesn't seem to run the ball much.

I have had a bad few days so not kept up with the news. Have saints confirmed the signing or that Zeb is going? Be really sorry to see him go if it's true.
