Default Social Distancing at Saints - A solution

Just allow in season ticket holders only for the remainder of this season.

No away fans for the remainder of this season.

Split the fans into West / East stands and same with North/South.

There will be no crowds until the risk level is down to the required level. Social distancing isn't possible with that many people, even if it were just the 7,500 season ticket holders spread across the four stands. The queue for the bogs would reach the town centre alone.

You okay? That could explain one country announcing a new virus and dealing with it, but how would the whole world join in with a worldwide conspiracy? Did they have a whatsapp group where Boris and Trump troll Kim Jong Un with memes and they agreed to cover up the flu jab scandal? Forgive the mocking tone, but can you see why this seems a bit of a stretch?

Nice idea, but probably won't happen as it's too difficult to control. I doubt if the club would take that risk (real or not!).

Edit...I'm trying to imagine this. Even allowing for household groups, I don't think there's enough space on the terraces, and it would be a nightmare trying to sort out seating positions as the normal numbering system wouldn't be possible.
I think we'll just have to wait until the 2m thing is dropped.

It's not even fishing, it's spouting absolute nonsense. It annoys me the amount of people who choose to believe such clap trap in a bid to make their lives seem more exicting.

Presumably all the clubs have a streaming service to service the likes of Sky etc., so why not stream the matches not televised live on you tube, or free on the Saints channel it's not as if they can lose any revenue why crowds aren't allowed in

I was thinking a month ago how they could get around the 2 metre rule and would it be cost effective. For the East + West Stands you might be looking at 1/4 capacity with a one way system in place, for the South + North stands you would have to take rows of seats out and I don't know if that is structurally possible to provide that one way system as well. As an estimate that might get us around 3500 fans into the ground all wearing masks + gloves, all this would cost extra money which the club can't absorb at the moment.

Another added option is to rent a large screen outside of the North Stand and have a drive in facility for a couple of hundred cars but again that cost too much money. It would probably be better for season ticket holders to have free live streaming and watch it from home.

Imagine how slow the bars would be, you'd have to email them your order a week in advance.

Something similar was suggested on RL fans last week.

However, how would you get people to their seats using "social distancing" Would you have to do away with having your reserved seats?

At the end of the game how would you get people out keeping their distance?

What about the toilet trippers who feel it necessary to go there two or three times a game?

Well this government of spivs & shysters hasn't waited for the risk level to be sufficiently down before opening everything else up again, so maybe we'll have crowds back by August

Huddersfield and Salford are allowing all fans back from day one. They have nothing to worry about.

Huddersfield's season ticket holder's can have a stand each.

Same in football's Premier League with Man Citeh (although their crooked owners will still report 100% attendance for FFP reasons...)

They may have to get a cardboard cutout or two to achieve that.

Nice idea but it’s a non starter for the time being. It’s perfectly valid to think that you could only use every other row in a stand, with two seats in between each person as well. That would be perfect social distancing and would allow some people into the ground. But, it’s getting them in to that position safely, and getting them out safely as well. How many people disappear for the toilet after twenty minutes, walking inches from everybody else’s face in that row? How do you stop that? How do you stop people milling in the concourse or at the beer stands? How do you stop people that live together ignoring the rules and sitting together, which will then be abused by those that don’t etc.

Clubs would be really worried about being blamed for another spike, and simply wouldn’t want the hassle. In Sept-Oct if we’ve reduced the two metre rule or new cases have been reduced to a trickle then we can look at all the options I suppose.

Absolutely. You only have to look at the various pictures of beaches, VE day, parks, Ikea etc to see there's plenty of people that can't be trusted. I'm not sure I'd want to go the game anyway, for me, it's more important to get back to work before we start doing things like that again

I don’t think there’s any way around it really, as has already been said, I think queues and the like would make it impossible. I think the club will have to wait until they’re told crowds can go back into stadiums in full.
