    Default World Cup

Been announced that Tonga and Italy will be based in St Helens for the World Cup next year.

Absolute coup to get Tonga in town especially given their landmark victory against the Australians.

Be massive for the amateur game at junior level and schools having some of the biggest NRL stars in the town.

Im sure that the coach may have had a say in the decision?

Aye, seen that earlier and thought the same.

Maybe this will go some way to Woolfe ingratiating himself with St Helens.

Hopefully Tonga will still have all their major stars by then and Woolfe has a bit of a resurgence. It could be a massive thing for the town to get them here. I also hope we're able to have crowds at sports by then and that people here actually embrace it this time.

If we can't have crowds by late 2021 I don't think we will have a game never mind a world cup!

It’ll be nice for Woolfe to revisit the town after we bin him come March next year.

Saints is a business Don, this is a ticket for Woolfe until post World Cup and I want him to do well. It will be interesting if Liverpool buy into this? Rotherham will give it a go, but fathead, thinks of us as Luddites I believe.

Anyway great to have our own world class stadium and something to look forward to in 2021. They are hosting Yemen in the rhubarb triangle, home from home at Wheldon and Belle Vue.

Isn't there only one hotel in St Helens, though?

Or is the Sefton still taking paying guests?

We play in red and white, so Joe Chippytits will instinctively hate us.

At least 7 that I can think of.

None that I could imagine anyone using as a base.

I would imagine them using one of the bigger chains like 'Village' in Whiston, or those around Haydock Park.
Something with a gym and pool.
No exactly 'in' St Helens, but near enough not to matter if you're coming all the way from Tonga!

I can only see these nations using St Helens as a place to use a pitch, I imagine they’ll stay in Liverpool and be bussed in and out.

I was thinking that, could be a bit awkward come the end of 2021 if Saints have to welcome Woolfe back into town.

Not sure there would be many takers for tickets if we were to sack him either.

They are staying in Liverpool but training in St Helens.

This is due to the requirements the organisers put in place when bidding to host a team initially (they may have gone back on this now) but that’s why it is a joint hosting between Liverpool & St Helens.
