Ok, so this is going to be a bit random... we can blame cabin fever from the lockdown maybe.
Anyway, I woke this morning having had one of those unsettlingly vivid dreams. And in this one, I was asked to go on as a late substitute in the Challenge Cup final for Saints against wi*an. We were winning fairly comfortably and there was only 10 minutes left. I recall thinking I must remember what to do because it's been so long since I last played. I remember joining a tackle and getting penalised for holding down (and hearing Eddie Waring saying it was an unlucky introduction for the new lad, but by the end of the sentence it was Eddie Hemmings speaking). And I can remember being relieved not to arse it up when I was passed by ball and I had to drive it in. But most vividly, I remember defending wide on the right near our line and Dennis Betts running straight at me. I managed to cling on and tackle him but he nearly scored and it bloody hurt. Then to hooter went and we all ran to the Saints fans to celebrate, and the Saints team were all from the Joynt, Long, S••••horpe, Cunningham era. But I had to leave them all quickly because I had to drive home. Nobody I spoke with, none of my friends or family, had watched it and nobody was bothered about what I'd done.
I don't think I've ever had a dream about playing for Saints. I had one about playing for Liverpool and King Kenny giving me footballing tips, but I was about 8 years old at the time.
Anyone else ever dreamt they were playing for Saints?
