Why does that only apply to Farrell and not all the other forwards below him in the stats?

Farrell clearly deserves his place in that squad IMO.

Because he will get pulverised. Like he has previously against them.

We will never agree on it so let's see what happens if he plays against them in the autumn.

I suspect he will be looking at the sky a fair bit when he's been put on his back for the umpteenth time

Only negative too many penalties joint 2nd with seven.
Ah very good stats. Which internationals were these, I don’t think I caught them......
Can't stop the spirits when they need you.

More good things than bad in this side. On the plus side its good to see the exclusion of Austin and Hastings which most sane England fans knew were about as English as Merv Hughes. I'm also glad to see SOL binned off. Not even the best loose forward in Wigan. Generally he has picked on form and most of the inclusions are hard to disagree with.

I'm ambivalent on Farrell; I don't think he has nor ever will be international class but if picked has to be paired with a big backrow. The one surprise is Sarginson who I think is garbage to be honest.

Looked at the squad and didn't even notice him not being there. I did notice Dan Sarginson?? Always thought Farrell would get in playing under Wane for so long. He is good at club level where he can play like a left centre without the necessary skills.

But he isn't going to be paired with a big second row because Bateman is nailed on playing if fit & rightly so.

To be fair it's only an initial squad. starting centres will be Percival and Gildart barring injury and we're hardly blessed with good centres so I can understand it, I'd rather that than bloody Hardaker or someone else play there.

Be tempted to play Gildart left wing and Percival left centre myself

Costello and Bentley are the left side dream ticket.

Hmmm, not sure, they're both a bit selfish, I can see your theory but I would be tempted to put the gypo outside Percival and Makinson outside Gildart. I'm more bothered about Lineham or the fella from Huddersfield playing.

    Very true.

Was just thinking in terms of them both being left sided players usually and Gildart not being great on the right..

Would have to put percy right centre, Gildart left

For some reason I thought Gildart was right sided, not sure where that came from. But yeah, go with Percy and Tommy together on the right.

Forgot about him, but if he's fit then 100%.

Not sure about Percy's right sided passing Dave (happy to be wrong though).

Who would you suggest on the right in that case?

Harry Newman is a very good right sided centre but it may be too soon for him. He's playing well for Leeds at the moment.

Fair shout though. Better if they are playing on their 'natural' side. Wonder if Ratchford would be considered in there?

As for Gildart & Percival, what do people think is the best option?

Regarding Johnson, he's a good un but surely your best ball carriers and kick returners are Makinson and Manfredi?

If Manfredi is fit, he's got to be in with a shout surely?

But then Charnley is also a strong lad who runs hard

Looks pretty good to me, in a 'squad' of 33 you'll always have the odd strange one you don't agree with..

Looking at it however and including some early season form

Tomkins, Makinson, Gildart, Percival, Johnstone, Lomax, Gale, Graham, Clark, Thompson, Whitehead, Bateman, Hughes is probably how I'd look to go.. obviously very early doors..

Interesting if true about Knowles, we're very strong in the front row, two very good back rowers in Bateman and Whitehead, then you're probably struggling for an out and out loose forward.

That backline would certainly be a lot more entertaining than the garbage Bennett churned out

Lineham didn't even make the knights. Wanes decision making looking better

Would have had Hastings in there, regardless of his birthplace.

No Ryan Hall either realistically I'd put lineham behind Makinson, Johnstone, Manfreidi, Burgess, Marshall, Handley, McGillivray and Charnley..

I've probably missed a couple out too
