Presumably Costello will move inside to centre with Grace back on the wing. But of a battle going in the forwards now.

    Welsby
    Makinson
    Naiqama
    Costello
    Grace
    Lomax
    Fages
    Thompson
    Roby
    Walmsley
    Peyroux
    Taia
    Knowles

    LMS
    Lees
    Smith/Bentley
    Paulo/Amor/Ashworth

I think those top 15 names are safe. Not a fan of Costello personally but from that squad I don’t see any other options really. Apart from Bentley maybe.

3 of Smith, Bentley, Paulo, Amor and Ashworth missing out alongside Lewis Dodd presumably.

Of the interchange bench, LMS and Lees are nailed on subject to any late fitness concerns. I’d then like to see Smith to spell Roby and Amor in. However, I suspect Paulo will keep his place from the WCC.

I would think Smith would be in given how Roby will only be playing his second game of the season and will probably only do about 50-60 mins, this season has shown that you need speed from dummy half whether that be speed of pass or run, Bentley is slow at the play the ball and his delivery isnt great. So its one from 4 for me and that depends on what you want, another prop in Amor/Ashworth, utility in Bentley or Paulo who offers a bit more of a passing game.

I was impressed with Costello last week, really held his own on the wing.

Probably would not happen but I would go

    2. Tommy Makinson,
    20. James Bentley, 21, Matty Costello,
    3. Kevin Naiqama, 5, Regan Grace,
    6. Jonny Lomax, 7. Theo Fages,

    8. Alex Walmsley, 9, James Roby, 10. Luke Thompson,
    11. Zeb Taia, 12. Dom Peyroux,
    14. Morgan Knowles,

    Subs
    13. LMS, 15. Matty Lees, 16. Kyle Amor, 19. Aaron Smith,

It depends who is sore. The squad is forward heavy so maybe we will shuffle the pack a bit.

It will be interesting to see who plays at centre Costello or Bentley
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.

Start Walmsley, Roby and Thompson, win the game in the first half and then take them off at half time and only bring them back on if absolutely necessary.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

I like that team a lot. Far better than having Welsby at fullback. I think Toronto would target him, they've always been a physical side.

I think Ashworth is higher in the packing order given Woolf's comments.

Is this the week that Dodd gets his go , with Lomax at FB, Welsby at Centre ?

Wouldn't mind seeing Dodd play. But why would Welsby have to play? He's behind Naiqama, Makinson, Grace and Costello as an outside back isn't he? I don't see him moving anyone out of their position if he's not picked at fullback.

The only change I’d make is Grace for Costello.

    Bentley to stay at centre.

I’m not sure he is behind Costello as a back, given that he played on the wing first game and would certainly play ahead of him if anyone else was playing at fullback.

I seen Dodd out and about last week, he doesn't look anywhere near big enough for the first team.

I wasn't knocking his talent btw. He just looked very slight.

Going off KW’s latest interview unless we have WCC players carrying knocks other than Costello either moving to centre or dropping out for Grace I see the same team. He stated he is not a coach who changes players who are playing well and although during a long season players need rest this is not the time for rest. He is a fan of ‘if you have the shirt you keep it unless you don’t perform’.
Humans are more concerned with having than being.

I get that impression too although it may be worth changing things with a few players coming back from injury.

I,m glad someone has given Costello some value, solid player the more games he plays the more dependable. Got the feeling Woolf will keep Paulo on the bench because of his efforts and Amor will only get a game if Walmsley, Thompson, Lees and LMS are not available.

Nothing against Costello as a squad player, he certainly gives 100%. I would like to see Bentley get a game in the centres against easier opposition than the Roosters. That would probably mean Costello missing out, which might not be fair on him.

Looking at the photos that Saints have tweeted from training, Bentley was running at left centre.

Unless he's pulled up during captains run.. otherwise it looks like Taia, Bentley, Grace down the left

Surely we just swap him and Lomax around, Welsby that it. I don't think he's a centre any more than he's a full back.

He is no spring chicken and he got stuck in last week. He could just be struggling to recover.
