While I think you are right, Percy would probably want to play no matter what. I think we just have to hope he can't make it any worse. I have played in quite a big game myself after a painkilling injection, but the painkiller had worn off by halftime and the doctor refused to give me a second one. If he does play will he last the full game??

I don’t think the whole Percival thing is as big a deal as some are making out. Clubs, ourselves included, often patch up players and get them through games before they go off for operations, James Roby played a long stint last year needing groin surgery and we waited till after the Grand Final.

Having listened to the super league podcast and listening to Scully in particular, he said he wasn't missing the game against Brisbane. Saints put him through his paces in training and he came through fine. I think this is something Percy will be doing. Fair play to him wanting to put his body through that. I hope it holds up for him. He knows he's going to be out for a while after the surgery. League games will come around again but WCC games are few and far between. A big moment in any players career. Hopefully he'll have a winners medal to show for it.

If he’s getting a Cortisone Injection won’t that count as gift under the salary cap.

Roby did similar to this against London away last year. Played knowing he was going to miss the next few. Problem is that the club said he’d be out months but reality is, as others have said, that this goes on all the time. Whether it’s right or wrong is another debate but Knowles, Roby, Makinson (albeit in the final) and Percival all had minor/major injuries at the end of the year and played on through a few games but couldn’t play for GB due to that.

Player welfare is paramount these days. And Saints would never risk a players health imo. These injuries are probably the sort that players carried and played on through back in the day. If Percival plays no doubt he will be ok. I don’t think we would lose much by playing Bentley at centre though mind you.

Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

Does anyone know if this game will be refereed under SL or NRL rules? I am particularly interested in the ‘play the ball with the foot ‘rule as in Oz they have were much stricter applying this rule last season than here this season!

Possibly the third option of international rules..

Still bizarre how we have three different rules

Only a sport like RL would have different rules for the two competition’s.

Pretty sure it is played by UK rules
We have brought in new rules for this year, one is for tackling any player in the air - rather than just the defensive side

That's because we don't have two that are up to standard.

I much prefer the one referee
At least now they have a lead referee and he supposedly makes the final call

Hahaha, they'd probably end up disagreeing on field over here. Saying that, one of our refs is an ex marine and I love to see him stove Robert Hicks' head in as I suspect most of our fans would. Anyway, welcome to the board, I've been well impressed with your team while they've been here, taking time out to do a session with local youngsters was above and beyond in this crap weather for me, that goes a long way. I'm also glad we allowed you to train at our ground, I very much doubt Wigan Athletic would've allowed that. I can't see us winning but I'm hoping we'll make you work.

Haha could you imagine Kendal and Hicks on the same pitch they’d need a third ref to ref them two

Is it me being tired and half cut or has James Child had a good game tonight? Been a reasonable game to be fair.

You must be tired and half cut but it is Friday. I think he has been terrible. Wanted a penalty try and VR didn't give it so he gave a yellow card. Wakefield's first try was forward, the knock on against Shenton, when for once a player played it bask with his foot. They are only the one's that come immediately to mind.
