It seemed to work well for Saints last year so here’s hoping the benefits continue.

Also leigh players can play in our academy
Seemed to work quite well last year despite Richardson saying he didn’t know where he was playing week from week.
It seemed to do a lot of good for Josh Simm especially. I’m not sure how well Batchelor and Costello went there but not everyone will be a success.

It seems to be the dual use of the second team that is the big gain.
Leigh seemed to prefer using their own players near the end of last year.
I suspect that Joe Bachelor could find himself shipped out to Leigh but the rest of our fringe players will play in the A team.
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.
Really? I haven’t seen a reserve game and am happy to read otherwise, but I would suspect Leigh v Widnes in the Championship is of a higher standard than Saints Reserves v Widnes Reserves and players like Costello, Batchelor and Simm, who have experience under their belts at SL and Championship level would be better suited to playing for Leigh.

Madness.
Dual-Reg just contradicts the entire point of having Reserve-Grade
Utter, utter stupidity. Dual-Reg should be banned.
A lot of people will have different opinions on this.
I was against Dual Reg last year, as I thought we needed reserves. However though we now have a reserves comp, it is partly made of players from amateur clubs, and is not as strong as it should be. Years ago when the reserves were called the A team, just about every player was better than any player in the amateurs. I think it will take a few years of players graduating from the under 18's and playing reserves to strengthen that competition to a good level.
Until then I am happy to have a few fringe players playing at a higher level with Leigh while they can strengthen our reserves.
It's good for our Leigh players who aren't in the 18 man squad, at least (if selected) can play some decent standard rugby, rather than just doing 'not a lot' on a weekend.
But I noticed than one SL reserve team, can't remember who, but they had around 6 or 7 championship players in their team, from 2 clubs they have loan/dual reg arrangements with.
I guess the 'Reserve League' results will be very unpredictable this season.
