    I’d guess at:

    Coote
    Welsby
    Naiqama
    Percival
    Grace
    Lomax
    Fages
    Thompson
    Bentley
    Walmsley
    Peyroux
    Taia
    LMS

    Amor
    Ashworth
    Lees
    Paulo

Batchelor, Costello, Dodd and Smith to miss out.

Other options are Costello to centre and Naiqama wing instead of Welsby. Aaron Smith may get a place too, especially if Amor doesn’t make it. Can’t see Dodd or Batchelor being involved at all.

No Knowles - was that expected, thought we were only missing Roby and Makinson

I think Amor will miss out due to injury/fitness

    Coote
    Welsby
    Naiqama
    Percival
    Grace
    Lomax
    Fages
    Thompson
    Bentley
    Walmsley
    Peyroux
    Taia
    LMS

    Smith
    Ashworth
    Lees
    Paulo

Woolf stated that Knowles would be missing a couple of days ago with Amor having a late fitness test. He also suggested that Roby, Makinson and Knowles could be out for another 2-4 weeks depending on reports from specialists.

Not liking this bigger squad naming, it hurts my head.
    Couple of things for me.
    Will Amor be fit?
How will Smith feel if he drops down the hooker ladder should Bentley start there? (I have heard Bentley has impressed Woolf).

Thought we were having some sort of injury crisis when I saw the last couple of names, didn’t realise you had to name 21 now.

If everyone’s fit, I’d probably go:

    Coote
    Welsby Naquima Percival Grace
    Fages Lomax
    Walmsley Bentley Thompson
    Peyroux Taia
    LMS

    Smith, Amor, Ashworth, Lees.

Think we’ll potentially miss out in attack without a genuine ball playing forward in the 17 but at this stage of the season it’s just about the result really and I think the conditions will favour that bigger pack.

I’m only guessing obviously but I don’t think it’s a case of Smith dropping down the ladder. I just think it probably makes more sense at this time of year to start with the better defensive player and IMO that’s Bentley at the minute. I think Smith is the better hooker but it’s just getting the right balance I guess.

Makinson’s injured mate, not sure why I forgot Taia. Spent about five minutes trying to figure out why Batchelor and Dodd were in the squad before I clicked the link.

I know Makinson’s injured but as you’d picked Knowles (who’s also injured) I assumed when you said “if everyone’s fit” you were picking your best side and not just one for Friday.

Ah I see, nah was just thinking about Kyle Amor. If he’s not fully up to speed I’d put Paulo in. If he’s fit and ready to play then that would be my team.

You could be right..I think even Bentley knows hooker is not his best position, but as said before I have heard Bentley has impressed Woolf. I like him as well as I think he has got some niggle in him. I like Smith as well, I think he gets some unfair stick for ‘ not being Roby’.
Maybe we will see Smith as hooker and Bentley playing elsewhere (on the pitch).

Like this set up. For example, Smith has to be in the 17 for back up at 9, would be reckless to just select one of Bentley or Smith there IMO.
Paulo shouldn't be anywhere near the 17 if all players in 21 are fit.

That was pure class from Welsby.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

Lomax was on another level tonight. He was unbelievably good. If he goes like that through this season, he'll walk man of steel (although, if they're doing that stupid points bollocks again, maybe he'll be robbed)

I think he went OK, didn't do anything dynamic just very industrious working down that middle channel don't think he missed many tackles, Tai and Peyroux were out of the edges and didn't have to do hard yards down that middle. Percival looks stronger and was glad to see Lees play his usual game, think we missed Makinsons scoots but overall not too bad for our first game. Top of the league with the best attack and best defence so nothing has changed!!!
