Default Redvee Team of the Decade: Second Rowers

The next category to choose from is the back row, which requires two votes from the six options I've selected for you. A bit of a mix bag throughout the decade, but I have picked what I believe to be are our best six options of the decade (before anyone asks Jon Wilkin will be included in the LF poll).

Please consider their performances from 2010 onwards.

    The six selections are:

    Sia Soliola (Five seasons, 2010 - 2015)
    Tony Puletua (Four seasons, 2010 - 2014)
    Joe Greenwood (Six seasons, 2012 - 2018)
    Willie Manu (Two seasons, 2013-2015)
Dominic Peyroux (Four seasons, 2016 - current)
Zeb Taia (Three seasons, 2017 - current)

The poll will close in 7 days time.

Went for Zeb and Sia in this one, always liked Puletua but he did go missing quite a bit.

For me Soliola is the obvious first choice. I’ve also gone for Taia. I liked Joe Greenwood when he was with us and he might have developed better if he’d stayed. I think Taia has been better for us though.

Soliola easily then just Taia over Puletua. Zeb can be a touch inconsistent but Puletua, as good as he was on his day, picked and chose when to turn up

Interesting that joe greenwood has not been voted for , I liked him when he was with us but don't think he will get a vote with the Wigan thing now.

Lot of talk about him in Wigan when he sighed you'd think they had bought a world beater but a bit of a forgotten man.

Puletua played more prop than second row... It was a complete waste of his talents. Soliola and Taia for me also. Sia was an unbelievable player for us

All brilliant players who I really liked (Greenwood less so).

I've gone for King Dom Peyroux. Literally love the man.

Also gone for Zebby. Works his socks off and doesn't get anywhere near the credit he deserves.

Sia was a wonderful man but played for us in a time when we were truly woeful. Prefer King Dom to him, he's just so cool..

For me Sia stands alone among those choices, the other one much more difficult. In the end I went for Zeb despite thinking last year and this, that he is probably past his best,

Puletua was a talent and on his day was up there - but those days weren't frequent enough

Greenwood showed a lot of potential and looked at one stage to be the future - but his limitations were exposed more than his strengths and I think the move to Gold Coast and then Wigan have stalled his development, maybe this would have happened anyway? Taia was a great acquisition in the swap and has been (often) an unsung hero for us.

Manu also a talent but past his prime when he joined us I felt. He still made some good contributions due to his experience and talents.

Peyroux I like a lot - especially how he's turned things around and is a good honest player - works hard and sometimes gives us the lift we need with his enthusiasm in attack and defence. For me just doesn't quite have the quality to oust Soliola and Taia - who nows what he will bring in 2020. Wonder if Woolfe can get any more out of him. Holbrook did an amazing job of that, not sure if there's much more?

Easy choice , Sia and Zeb. Sia gave his all for Saints every time he played and it was a Cracking bit of business by Saints getting Zeb when Greenwood went to Oz.

Its an insult to not even name John Wilkin he was predominantly a second rower pushed around to accommodate the team?

How is it an insult? The vast majority of this decade he played at 13, he may have played scrum half/stand off at times but he was a loose forward this decade.

As mentioned he will be in the loose forward voting, he has played 400+ games for Saints. I reckon he played 150@second row, 150@loose forward, 100@stand off and scrum half. Probably our best utility player of the decade perhaps.

Another vote for Sia and Zeb for me, Dom not too far behind but handicapped by that non specific role managed by KC.

Morgan Knowles would be my 13 100 times out of 100 over Wilkin.

In fact, Flanagan would be in there for me before Wilkin.

A good servant, a grafter & a steady player. But not a top player, sorrry

And yet several GB/England coaches thought very highly of him. He was also a major contributor to Toronto’s success last year so perhaps he suffered at the hands of the likes of Cunningham. I do however think Knowles has every chance of becoming a legend provided our coaches get the best out of him.

I don't think there is any perhaps, I think he was just one that suffered at the hands of Cunningham. Knowles is a totally different type of player, and if he stays I agree he will become a legend of his era. Maybe he will go on to develop as a more pivotal LF rather than his current 110% workrate. And, I don"t mean that as any detriment I really rate him.

I agree 100%. Wilkin was a good player and always gave us his all wherever he played but aside from his workrate there was nothing he was especially good at. Knowles is already on another level and I expect more to come.
