How can we achieve this without Jack Owens?

RL is conditioned in this country to believe its naturally inferior to Australia. Whether its minicking their tacky language (dumb/smart, money ball, blue/stink, pill etc) or assimilating Australians to our national side, the reality is our sport here has surrendered to become subservient to the Southern hemisphere in every way. Embarrassing

Tonga and Woolf showed how weak and vulnerable the Australians really are. I could almost imagine the supine, yellow bellied, gutless cowards from Platt Bridge, Hunslet or Sankey burning their Brisbane, Bulldogs or Roosters top after the emperor had been called naked.

The sooner rugby over here grows a pair and stops living in the shadow of Australians the better. We will only beat them when we use our own brain and ingenuity and stop trying to copy and replicate.

    Nailed it.

I used to watch a lot of NRL. I don't now. Find it boring

Great post. Just on the euphenisms, the one that really annoys me is when they say "he pouched it well" as though we have kangaroos on the field.

In between the half and the threequarters ( 1/2, 5/8 ,3/4).

I know it’s a stupid phrase when stand off half is perfectly good, i.e. the scrum half is involved in the scrum whilst the stand off, er stands off the scrum.

    Every day's a school day!

I've heard of the 5/8th before and never made the connection

Not quite a 3/4, but a winger in Bennett's eyes.

7/8's of the side are forwards and half backs.
