Default Eamonn fined for speaking the truth

Copped a £3000 fine for his editorial, think Wire got a similar fine for an ineligible player in the semi final, then they got the fined for storming the battlements but got away with bricking the away coach because its not part of the operational rules.

Default Eamonn fined for speaking the truth

Nothing he said was out of order, it was what everyone was thinking, Hicks should never have had the game and refereed it differently to any other game he has done. Eamonn is probably laughing at the fine, i am surprised they havent tried to hit him harder as the RFL doesn't like being called out.

The RFL is pathetic. The statement is just proof of how pathetic they are.

This is the same RFL who showed little support and allowed James Child to be hung out too dry and has not officiated a Wire game since.

I'd say that, whilst the RFL are without doubt incompetent, they're also bent and corrupt.

As bent and corrupt as Hicks' biased officiating in that Challenge Cup Final.

Isn't Hicks something to do with compliance at the RFL, if this has gone anywhere near that department there is no way this is legit. Although would be pretty standard for the RFL.

Without Eamon's statement, Hicks performance in the cup final would have been swept under the carpet and we would have had him in the Grand Final.

So for 3k Eamonn changed the Grand Final referee.

Leeds Rhinos, break the salary cap but not by enough to warrant a points deduction.

So Leeds get 55k more salary cap for 20k.

This all reminds me of a Michael Winner quote about using bus lanes "They only charge you £60 to use them, and you get no points. Wonderful value!"
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.

    What a statement.

Match officials are as impartial as Sky TV Commentators.

The big issue here is that there is no-one to hold the RFL to account. There are no journalists willing to do their job, I have just been onto TotalRL and Martyn Sadler is actually saying that big Nige had to take over the bulls As is was for the best. Completely ignoring any self interest issues of which there are many.

Martyn Sadler edits (owns?) the the major news outlet of RL in this country if he is a fully paid up to the gravy train then nothing will change anything untoward will be bushed away.

The game stinks for the core

I know Harry Edgar would look at the game though rose tinted specs sometimes but Open Rugby was far better than the Comic that Rugby League World has become.

I doubt he's losing any sleep over 2 grand, his missus probably has half a dozen handbags that cost that much.

As mentioned, pathetic from the RFL but will only reinforce the siege mentality that seemed to come out after the CC final.

Maybe we should take it to the terraces next season, they can't fine us.

    I’ve said it before

He’s Blond, He’s bent, his whistle’s up for rent Robert Hicks.

But no doubt we’ll get done for homophobic chanting since the original 80’s chant was somewhat different

    £3000 is a bargain.

    Thanks Eamon

What happens if he doesn’t pay?

Will they kick him and his money out of the game?

Think it is time to test the water with this lot now, the same governing body that said we would not get a licence while at the old lady KR, then scrapped that for franchising.......... er maybe not then. Throw a few quid at a young legal, threaten court cases, defamation, slander, incompetence and collusion see whether they want a row. We have been too compliant since Longy and Gleeson`s antics.

I know the original. They most likely would.

The fact that he thinks what he said is true and that it breaks RFL Operational Rules are not mutually exclusive.

It’s right that he has been fined for speaking out publically on it - those are the rules. I also happen to believe what he said was correct.

TBH Dave I can see Hicks not coming to our ground in a while, if not at all next season. We will probably get him by the magic weekend.

The statement says it was an agreed settlement. If he has agreed with it (which I don’t) I don’t see any appeal coming

I was thinking something a bit more grandiose than shouting a few insults at that clown, I'm sure we'll get him this season and he'll get hammered.

I was thinking, first home Sky game of the season, along the length of the North stand for the camera's to see:

THE TRUTH COSTS NOTHING UNLESS YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE.

Very true and McManus accepts that, the problem was that although it was just a bit of a spat in the match programme he didn't expect Carney too blow it all up out of proportion and targeted it through the social.media channels. The next time SKY come to the club to televise the game I would hope they would give Carney a frosty silence reception and let the fans come up with some chant referring to anti saints Carney and let him know respect works both ways.

As for Hicks, I would just let it be as regards to the cup final, beneath the RFL surface they probably do accept the element of truth from McManus but they will always pull out the "respect the referee get out of jail card."

Truth or not, it was bad judgement, the media were tweeting about it before Carney highlighted it!
