Bennett created a Clique who unsurprisingly speak highly of him.
Has not engaged with the English or GB RL public.
The selections of austin,Coote and hastings although legitimate
but have turned off a lot warmth from the public.
The other selections have lacked imagination and ignored current form.
The GB lions in 2006 had its offield problems but the gulf
in quality and identity between the two is significant.
Shaun Wane would have been a better shout for this year.
I agree but why do we hear from players how much they love him as coach.. (although one Saints player I have spoken to absolutely hates him)
The players must know his tactics are wrong..
Side Note .. twitter saying Thompson & Gildart done for the rest of tour..
Eddie Jones is free after RU World Cup... he might fancy a change..
Humans are more concerned with having than being.
We tried to out-muscle a bigger team, rather than trying to tactically work out how to make progress.
Lack of mobility was an issue.
Coote played a completely different game to what we've seen all season from him. Hastings the same. Everything went through Widdop with little variety to what was done. This has to be coaching instruction, I just don't understand why select players then not utilise their strenghts.
If Gildart is out, wonder if he'll be replaced by Connor or Bateman or Jones, knowing how he likes a through size not skill in the 3/4 line.
Hastings and Widdop doesn't look a good combination at the moment they look too one sided. I would be tempted to pair Lomax with Hastings and make Widdop play from Full Back. That makes Hardaker centre and I would pick Connor at the other centre he seems to play better at international level.
Still not convinced with Hodgson we need a better pivot with more variation so Clark should be in there. With Thommo injured it looks as though Watts will get a better opportunity with his offloading. The wing spots we are pretty much stuck with what we have got not that it mattered because Bennett wants defensive centres.
The only players that come out with much credit was Graham, Walmsley, Whitehead and Bateman all the others were average.
Thought the game was a good enough watch, physical and although the result wasn't great Tonga played well and its a good result with regard to keeping up the interest.
Hall and McGilvery are finished at this level and its a farce that we haven't taken any wingers as cover. Gildart made 4x as many yards sideways as he did forewards and he is our only recognised centre and will miss the rest of the tour through injury. This is supposed to be the pinnacle of international representation and we could only find 2 wingers and one centre.
Its great to see GB back, its great to wake up at 8am on a Saturday and watch Rugby League on terrestrial tv despite it being played at the same time as the Union World Cup semis and having no post game analysis as not to delay Robot Wars but despite a good game it all seems a bit half arsed and rushed. Not even playing NZ 3 times.

Let's face it we conceded two tries that should have been stopped so it's not that bad we move on.. That said I've never liked Bennett, passion alone won't win games but bloody hell you need some. McGilvaray isn't the player he was but he gave it a shot and Hall who I feel sorry for tbh is too heavy and slow now he's finished at that level but we've got no choice at the moment if we've not took any other wingers.
We got beaten up in that game. It looked like Tonga's physicality took us by surprise, which really shouldn't be the case. No centres and a lighter front row for the rest of the tour doesn't bode especially well.
I've never thought Hodgson should be playing for GB or England. There's a few I'd have I front of him.
His decision making can be poor, and he can be a very selfish player.
Be interesting to see how GB respond, but I fear too many of our best players are missing.
Roby, Lockers, Burgess, Makinson, Knowles, off the top of my head
A few forwards played well, namely Walmsley Graham Bateman Whitehead & Burgess. I never thought Josh Jones was international class in a month of Sundays and nothing has changed my mind. I really can't see what he brings to the table tbh. He isn't blockbusting enough for a prop and looks way too slow for second row never mind cover for centre.
Agree with most of the posts on here, hodgson thinks he's a much better player than he actually is, everyone says how good he is in the NRL, but I'm yet to see it. We'd be much better with Clark at hooker
Backs are too slow, only gildart has any pace and he's done for
Nothing from the halves until Lomax came on
I watched it because its rugby league but cant get passed the issue of Austrians playing for GB. Lost its credibility in my eyes. I was more interested in seeing Woolf as a coach and was more interested in watching them . Tonga V Rest of the world Don't interest me.
If people want to be picked they usually back the coach (in public at least) so they’re bound to say they love him....
I think he plays too many players out of position, lacks any kind of variation/plan B and clearly doesn’t watch/care about Superleague or the teams/systems......
I wonder if Widdop will get a look in once he’s in SL??

Can't stop the spirits when they need you.
This life is more than just a read through.
I fail to see how you can have an international coach who does not watch the majority of players he picks, there are only a few GB/England players in the NRL, most play in Super League, for me either the coach has to be a Super League coach or its a full time position where the coach watches a couple of games a week and goes over to watch the NRL for a couple of weeks a season. Bennett has no idea the strengths or weaknesses of Super League players because he never sees them play, i hate to say it but i would rather have fat head Wane do the job.
