They’ll not do anything and hope that everyone forgets about during the off-season.

The lack of action or even any kind of acknowledgment is just bewildering. Not even a suspended fine

Does that mean we’re allowed to riot next season?

Think we knew all along it would be brushed under carpet. This is the reason no season ticket for me , don’t like corruption .. the rfl is corrupt through and through. All people want is fair play but this committee don’t know the meaning of the words fair and honest...

There should be a far more reaching enquiry on the behaviour on and off the field of that Warrington club this season. There are just too many instances to sweep under the carpet from both fans, players and their club administration.

You’re paying them far too much credit there.

Corruption would indicate a modicum of actual intelligence throughout the RFL to enable them to somehow manipulate the rules and regulations for some kind of gain.

    No.

    They’re just inept.

I'm not sure I follow that as a reason for not buying a (Saints?) season ticket.

I dont think they are overly corrupt, there are a few areas that could be seen as blatant favouritism or completely inconsistent depending on how you look at it, what they could be is a hell of a lot more open and transparent, but i think the bigger issue is the sheer incompetence of management at the RFL.

Couldn’t get the link to work so here’s the text of the statement regarding the Catalans/Warrington fracas:

“Dragons and Wolves fined for crowd misconduct at Super League fixture

Catalans Dragons have been fined £27,500, and Warrington Wolves £15,000, after an RFL investigation into the events which followed their Betfred Super League fixture in Perpignan on August 3.

Both clubs have accepted the findings and reached an ‘Agreed Decision’ with the RFL in accordance with RFL processes.

The Catalans Dragons fine includes an amount of £1,000 suspended from 2018 in relation to a fixture against St Helens. £10,000 of this fine has been suspended until the end of the 2021 season. The club must also bear two thirds of the costs of the investigation.

Warrington Wolves will pay for the remaining third of the costs, with £5000 of their fine suspended, also until the end of the 2021 season.

Catalans Dragons and Warrington Wolves each accepted that they had a case to answer in relation to crowd misconduct at the fixture, as each club has a responsibility for the actions of its own supporters and a duty to take all reasonable steps to ensure their proper behaviour wherever a match is held. Both clubs acknowledged that the events of Saturday 3 August brought the game into disrepute.

The higher fine imposed on Catalans Dragons reflects the host club’s sole responsibility for the management of its ground when it is open to the public. In this respect, Catalans Dragons’ matchday planning and stewarding provision were deemed inadequate, and the response to incidents unsatisfactory.

Karen Moorhouse, RFL Chief Regulatory Officer, said: “The behaviour of some of the supporters at this fixture was completely unacceptable and has no place in Rugby League – importantly, both Catalans Dragons and Warrington Wolves have accepted that, and committed themselves to taking positive steps in response.

“All clubs have a responsibility to ensure that everybody who comes into a stadium can enjoy the game – that is a key part of our Enjoy the Game campaign, which promotes a welcoming and enjoyable experience for everyone at Rugby League, wherever it is played and whatever their role.

“This incident was highly unusual, in a game which has always taken pride in the behaviour of the vast majority of Rugby League supporters, and the family traditions it has encouraged; however, we are aware that it was not the only disappointing off-field incident in the 2019 season, and it is important we are not complacent in that regard. We will be working with clubs to reinforce the importance of the Enjoy the Game campaign during the off-season.”

The decision takes account of the previous record of both clubs in relation to issues of misconduct and of their respective approaches in response to these incidents.”

    What an absolute joke.

This bit was especially farcical, relating to Wire and their scummy fans:

No reference to other incidents involving the knuckle-draggers of Warrington - ahem, bricked coach window - nor the club's pathetic whining about it never being their fault.

But also, no mention of the behaviour of the Wire players in that game.

I expect us to be hit with a 6-figure fine for Eamonn's comments about the shambles of a refereeing display by bent Hicks in the CCF. With a further £50k for one of our players having a sock on inside out or something.

So pocket change and a significant portion of that suspended.

Barely worth the effort of investigating. May as well just say kick off

Was there a meeting between Warrington and a certain Mr Hicks from the RFL’s compliance team to ensure this pitiful punishment? This is basically carte blanche for Warrington fans next year, cant do much worse than what they did in Catalan yet basically get away with it, any sane governing body would have had a stadium ban used for a few games.

Didn't Wire have a stadium ban in their elimination play off with Cas? I don't remember seeing any fans

    2 points:

    1) The punishment for Catalans for "inadequate" stewarding and security provision feels a bit strange and questionable.

I'm sure in the 10 years plus of Catalans existence, they will have been monitoring the levels of stewards, security, etc and how they operate. In all this time I don't recall there being any issue compared to what was seen during the match in question. Have at any point any RL official questioned the levels of stewardship at Catalans?

    2) The timing of this being released to the press is awful. Along with Leeds paltry consequences for salary cap breach.

We have just had one of the best Grand Finals, with a fantastic build up from both Saints steamrollering the season and Salford's play-off fairytale story, a superb international 9's competition last weekend and Great Britain playing for the first time in over a decade this Saturday. Instead of celebrating success of the sport, it's awash with negativity. The same happened with Wigan last season on the eve of the season launch. Are they that inept, that they think any publicity is good publicity?

Yes, they are. We've had this confirmed many, many times.
