Default 1 to 13 superleague / bit of fun

    Hi all
    New member.
Read the forum for years. mainly to catch up on rumours, see opnions of matches etc..
Never felt the need to post, but been watching loads of youtube vidoes, everyones 1 to 13, hard as nails, and the new podcast, Out of your league (highly recommneded), Which by the way someone mentioned rumour of a big islander coming to Saints next year, anyone heard anything???

    Just a bit of fun,
The older guys tend to pick the guys they had played with, so be interesting to see if any of the modern players get in now.
Whats everyones best 1 - 13 in the Superleague era. Any team. Not including guys that came over for a few games in finals etc...

    1. Connolly
    2. Robinson
    3. Lyon
    4. Senior
    5. Albert
    6. Paul (either)
    7. Long
    8. Morley
    9. Cunningham (although think Roby is better all rounder, KC was just a rare freak of nature)
    10. Peacock
    11. Gilmour
    12. Burgess
    13. Farrell

I can see Knowles becoming one of these elite.
Thompson already is, I just cant not have JP or Morley

Ah the first of the yearly off season threads! Probably missed a few out here but oh well:

    1. Wellens
    2. Robinson
    3. Lyon
    4. Newlove
    5. Hall
    6. Pryce
    7. Long
    8. Graham
    9. Cunningham
    10. Peacock
    11. Joynt
    12. Farrell
    13. Sculthorpe

Always think 6 is a tough choice, Martyn was brilliant but in my head I’m looking at Longy when he was a bit older and slowed down a bit, 2004-6 sort of era. Pryce is probably a bit controversial and he was a bit hit and miss I guess but when he had Cunningham and Long organising everything inside him (in this team he’s got Scully and Farrell as well) he was untouchable at times.

    14. Roby
    15. Morley
    16. Fielden
    17. O’Loughlin
    Steve Prescott MBE (1973-2013)

He was a good prop who would have been better with a more fashionable club, pal.

Im surprised to see Farrell in so many best 1-13’s . Like many Wigan players he played his best rugby back when Wigan were the only full time team in the league. Once all teams went full time professional he won very little. He was also pretty crap at international level, like Radlinski. O’loughlin and Sculthorpe were better international loose forwards than Farrell. Plenty second row forwards better than him too over the past 20 years.

I hate to admit it but you're right. He was rubbish at international level though and it used to wind me up no end how Scully was shifted around to accommodate him. I was always hoping he'd get whacked but he always managed to hide and go missing when it got rough.
