Apparently Smithies made 72 tackles last night! We're going to have to out-tackle them!

Played 3 won 3 v Wigan this season.
I'm not saying it's a foregone conclusion but I can't think for a minute why we should be anything but confident.
I think Wigan have over achieved finishing second. Bang average team imo. Other than that 10 minute period when Wigan scored two quick tries i thought Salford were easily the better team.

Yes. He even went to the screen to see who’s scrum feed it was.

We are well overdue for our pivotal players to show up in a very tight game, I just get the feeling that the loss in the CC Final had devastated the players and they want to make amends even more so for themselves than us fans.
I reckon the determination and mental will to get that trophy will be very strong in our next couple of games.

Clearly you have never played team sport then. Confidence is a massive part of the game.

It sure is but complacency is as well. And we had beaten warrington three times going into wembley.

We didn’t lose at Wembley because of complacency though.

As has been pointed out 17 errors cost us dearly at Wembley , my only worry is that we've made a bagful of errors in the games we've played since . Fortunately the sides we've played haven't been good enough to really punish us. If we respect the ball and stop giving soft penalties I reckon we'll be ok. I really hope we get a decent crowd as the two playoffs have been played to almost empty stadiums , a terrible advert for our game.

I’m very confident indeed for next week.

Don’t believe the hype with Wigan, relatively average outfit as far as I’m concerned.

We turn up and play anything like, we win.

Dudson made some good yards against the rent boys last night. You would like to think Walmsley and Thompson will do the same

Im more than confident our pack will get us into good positions. It’s just a case of converting it but also not thinking we have to score every time we are in their half

Ive never been a fan of Dudson. Ive always thought Mossops shyte but they were bloody good last night. If we beat Wigan next week i reckon Cas or Salford will beat Wigan in the final eliminator.

They just played old school forwards rugby - hard, straight running at spaces in the line

Every time I've seen them this season I've thought Wigan look terrible. Absolutely terrible. Their pack is just awful, even the senior players. O'Loughlin is obviously a former world class player but he's not the force he was, the others aren't anything to be concerned about. Their backs are the same bar Williams and French going on their own. But Wigan's style, very conservative with the ball and ultra aggressive in defense is perfect for 'big game' rugby. It ensures that games will always be tight and if you stay in games and apply pressure eventually you'll score from a mistake, a defender falling asleep or from a kick.

We've got to counter their aggression somehow. We've got to give it back to them and stand up firmly to anything that happens early on in games. We need to be more composed than we have recently and actually take our chances. We should be on top generally against Wigan and need to exploit any chances, as they will when they get them.

It'd be mighty nice to actually see players like Lomax and Coote turn up in a big game and we should have a real go at the first semi, no holding back. If we lose I'd write the season off personally, if they beat us at home they'll beat us at Old Trafford. This season is 95% certain to end with nothing won again but I'd just like to see us have a real go for once. Really give it to them and leave nothing out there.

But if you don’t, do you think Saints could psyche themselves up for a ‘sudden death’ the week after?

Probably not. We do seam to choke in sudden death games, next week isn’t sudden death.

A quick check on the SL website shows we have made 361 errors this year, the most in the league, and an average of 12 per game roughly

They're excellent in defence, genuinely excellent there where times last night where they had no right to stop the try, but they did. Particularly the one when Hastings, Smithies and Clubb where squaring up to each other.

None of Wigan's forwards managed metres over 100m, with all bar Farrell making less than 60m.

An early try will settle us down massively

IF we lose next week i fancy us to win the following week but it would be tough. I think we would paste Castleford but Salford would be tough. They almost beat us at our place a couple of months back and some say they were robbed with that controversial Bentley try.
