Disgusted. Embarrassed. Ashamed. This isn’t St Helens. It’s not us. I’m shocked by what he’s said in this past week and to then send that to print is ridiculous.

He doesn’t say that at all. It’s more nuanced than that. If the ref holds a love-in with one of the clubs competing in a major final about an incident that happened four months ago it does look completely unprofessional. Hicks isn’t bent but he can’t help being subconsciously manipulated to favour Warrington as a result of his new friendship
No he has said he shouldn't have been put into the situation where people could question him given all that happened.
In what other sport would a ref give an interview about an incident involving a club they are about to officiate?
What happened to refs being seen not heard?
Who died? Who threat? Who spat? Dunno, don’t buy a programme.
Its not like its a new issue, its been bad for years, after last week he has every right to highlight it. Can you say after Childs performance tonight that there is not an issue and that it shouldnt be highlighted, they are killing the game and the RFL is too inept to improve the situation. Facts are people are tuning out on Sky and attendances are not that high, the quality of players are there but the officiating ruins the product.
Have a day off. We’ve had people on here bleating all week that we’re too nice as a club.
Good to see the chairman fighting our corner and calling out the idiot that was in the middle last week and the shambolic decision to allow him to take charge after the PR exercise he did with Warrington.

Well said Eamonn, we’ve had a few ridiculous calls against us in knock out games in the last few years it’s about time we said something.
Good on him. He’s put millions of his own money into the game, I think he’s entitled to have his say
Can't moan at him for saying what the fans are thinking. Got to back him there.
I hope we keep calling them out each week, culminating with the chairman issuing a death threat in the final program. Hopefully meeting with them as a PR stunt the week before Old Trafford.
That would be great thanks
It's embarrassing - he comes across as an arrogant, petulant, self-righteous twerp. If we/he had any dignity we'd have dealt with internally, put a gracious face on for the rest of the world, and redoubled our efforts/energies into winning the GF.
He looks silly. Let it go.
Two things:
1) By putting into print what most people already thought, it makes the RFL look at best incompetent for allowing the series of events leading upto the Challenge Cup occur how they did. When the likes of Talksport are chatting about how they couldn't understand how the sport having the technology and not using, you know that there's issues.
2) Child's performance tonight, looked like his attempt to not be appointed for any key games for the rest of the season.
Will this change the result? No.
Will this stop such a blatant publicity stunt happening again? Maybe.
I could just about taking the poor no try decision, but Hicks’ refereeing of Warrington’s defensive line throughout the match made me want to find the nearest copper because it was criminal.
Agree with what he’s written, well said Eamon.
Just wait until we get two refs.
