There were the couple of incidents at the end of the game that Justin Holbrook talked about, but I looked at the clock and less than nine minutes had gone when James Roby was more animated with Childs than I think I have ever seen him with any ref.

For that to happen, James Childs must have been making some very poor calls.
I think that was when Robes got penalised for not releasing the Cas player; Robes may have been a bit slow, but the cas guy fell over after Roby had got away from him, it was after he fell/dropped that Childs gave the penalty. A bit of an iffy decision but there were plenty worse last night

Sadly that means any entertainment (other than the result) disappears. Sky will tell us that it's a high intensity arm wrestle and the reason why most of us enjoy the game diminishes.
Spot on. We need to play with a bit more devilment and frankly stand offside and hold down more as it is largely being ignored as we approach the end of the season. Certainly if we get to the final we should ask for clarification about how the game is going to be reffed. That’s not being sarcastic either

I'm not a fan of blaming refs usually the truth is closer to home, but I can't get over that decision. It was horrendous on the referees part not to check that

It was a massive howler, no doubt about it. But we had the whole game ahead of us to get over it.

I've not seen anyone solely blame the ref, however he played a part. As did Childs last night.

I may comment on refereeing on a more suitable thread but I thought that the League Leaders Shield Presentation and celebration went well last night. It seemed to be the right balance and reinforced the sense of achievement the players must have. Their dominance of the League has been quite astounding and they deserved their moment of glory.

I hope that others teams and fans will feel free to celebrate subsequent wins in the coming years.

Well said. It’s never going to be the main prize but it should be seen as a trophy win, even if it is the lesser of the 3

I agree. It also occurred to me that SKY seemed happy to acknowledge it, unlike the early days when they didn't actually want it.
We just now need some of our fans to do the same!

    Congratulations on the recognition...
It'll obviously be just a hubcap for me as a bitter rival.... but you earned that hubcap...and that is the most important thing. Celebrate it and be dammed. Take no notice of outside noises.

Or somebody told Robes that people on here called him a bottler and he should question and stand up to ref’s more?

    Lol

I certainly enjoyed the presentation and why not celebrate it. The strange thing for me was that with all the families on board and the informal way it was handled by us, it almost felt like an end of season celebration, which for me winning the league should be.

It used to be the challenge cup, or was it the premiership?

If you mean the real Championship Cup , Wigan were given that when we went Super League.

Just pre-Super League, it was the Premiership at the end of the season, which was a decent trophy...But it was also a sort of wind-down from the League Championship awarded to top of the domestic league (arguably the one the players wanted to win most), with the CC early on (probably the fans favourite with a grand day out in London).
It's funny how SKY have simply flipped the first two, but we all know why!
