Default Lachlan Coote - Cup Final

I've not seen any news of his injury anywhere, but people are saying he's definitely out for the final. Any truth in that?

Would be an almost guaranteed defeat if he wasn't playing IMO. We're a mess in attack without him.

I think the word is realist. It would be a huge blow to our chances. But I don't care if people are happy clapping enough to think we'd still win, is he expected to be fit or not?

He’ll be fine for the Final.

Well it didn't take long for the 'wheels are coming off' nonsense to start. From the usual suspect no less

Saints2411, remember this is from the same person who has predicted defeat every time Saints have played Wire and if I recall championed them as the best team in the League at the start of the season. Hardly a surprise

Only played one game without him and we have decided we are sure to lose!

Technically, he's missed 4 this season.

Of those, we lost 3 (Catalans, London x2) and won 1 (Halifax)

Not bothered about the 3 losses as they were all very under-strength sides we put out generally, but the way we struggled to put a part-time, mid-Championship Halifax away was a bit alarming.

Have we become too reliant on him in attack?

It’s a good topic. I guess the honest answer is we don’t really know because Lomax also missed Catalan away and both the London games so we were without both of them for three of those four losses. Against Halifax, I think we sacrificed our attack so that we were a bit stronger defensively which I agree with given how the conditions played out. This Friday I think Welsby will play at full back with Lomax back at 6 so we’ll see how that goes and whether or not we’re a bit more fluent in attack.

With Coote I think it’s his game management we need more than anything. We were one or two kicks kicks away from beating Warrington in that semi final last year IMO, I thought they were ready to go two or three times but just kept letting them off with our kicking game and I think that’s where we need him the most. Take him out the team and I think we’re in trouble for that reason alone.

Every week I worry that either Coote or Lomax is going to go down. If Coote misses a couple of games but plays at Wembley, I’m happy with that.

Reading the latest from JH on injuries I would not be surprised if we don’t see Coote, Walmsley and Knowles before the final.
    Walmsley has a damaged retina
Knowles has broken some ribs & rib cartilage.

"People are saying he's definitely out for the final".

Congratulations. You've just spoken to some Warrington fans.

The reality is that we don't know, he probably doesn't know and Justin Holbrook doesn't know. We'll just have to see how it goes.

There is absolutely no doubt, though, he's crucial to us. It's not just the defensive full back play, the leadership and the goalkicking. We badly missed his link up play in attack and that cut-out pass at London and at Bolton.

His absence would massively swing the balance in Warrington's favour.

I seen him earlier and he looked to be walking fine, although I only drove past and it wasn't like he was doing star jumps. His missus is bloody lovely though.

I’ve not heard anyone say or seen anything to suggest he’s out for the final.

Holbrook quote in Star 'Coote is still a week or two away.....'
So that would suggest back for Warrington or Leeds at the latest.

I thought the same last night when Tony Clubb caught Ellis bang in the face, it looked deliberate.
