I bet there are very few people who actually know who the front runners are at the moment. Anything you read in the press will just be conjecture. The Holbrook thing came out of nowhere last time and if you were lucky enough to get a bet on him before the bookies shut it down you made a few quid.
Richard Agar, anyone?
Hahaha! Only joking. But how crap must Huddersfield be? Didn't someone in this thread say their coach has done well since he came in? Seriously?
A massive pity that that bunch of jammy arsewipes look safe from relegation now, though. It would have been perfect to see them go down. Hate them.
I’d be disgusted if we went with Flanagan. He’s not a nice character and should be avoided at all costs for his off-field misdemeanours that have led to his ban.
St Helens Rugby League Football Club
I honestly can't see Saints wanting to go anywhere near Flanagan and consider that no more than trash paper talk. I recall when Holbrook was appointed that Eamonn articulated the qualities we were looking for. I can't recall exactly what they were but something like:
- Somebody with a genuine desire to coach THIS Club (Holbrook applied and was head and shoulders above every other applicant on the standard of his presentation).
- Integrity
- Change mentality and able to connect the whole Club together
- A value set to act as a role model
I also recall that he said something similar when he appointed Daniel Anderson after the Millward exit, and that a big part of Anderson's attraction were his personal values..
Assuming he hasn't changed (he hasn't) then can you honestly see him letting a coach with as tarnished a reputation as Flanagan anywhere near us? I recognise you could use the example of Barba's history to contradict that but the appointment of a coach/leader is different - all of those things have to be right.
Disclaimer: I could be wrong but I doubt it
So, I have it on good authority that Adam O'Brien was our FIRST choice to replace KC. JH was SECOND.
Adam wanted to hold out for a main gig in the NRL, and now 2 and a half years later he still hasn't got one, so could be tempted at a main gig in Super League for us.
Don't be surprised if he's our number 1 candidate once again.
Rushy went to Oz yesterday.

NEVER WRITE OFF THE SAINTS
It seems as if this O,Brien fella doesn't want to come here so stop trying , he will want to go back after a week.
No idea at all whether MR is in AUS or not , however don't be surprised if the new bloke doesn't come from our shores.
I saw Mike Rush on Friday at the match
Imho = lol.

Watching NRL 360 last night and there was a piece on Trent Barrett - basically saying he deserves some credit for recruitment work at Manly -before Des Hassler returned. Said Trent is actively looking for a coaching gig. Any thoughts on him ?
