I dont think a kicker matters at all to be honest given who Saints are up against. A lack of a recognised kicker will merely keep the score down.

Lomax can play full back. Stick Richardson in the team alongside Fages.

I thought Richardson looked quite sharp at London but he didn't really have quick enough support runners when he made a break, with Peyroux and Fages he should finish a bit better than the "pick and Mix" side we had out at the weekend.

He cut through London really well, if hes able to repeat something like that on Saturday then youre correct, he will have better finishers following, allowing him to make the pass earlier

The exposure in such a massive game will bring him on massively. I think he is the best young kid we’ve got waiting to step up. He’s an elegant runner, he must have broke the line against Cas in the Wigan curtain raiser everytime he touched the ball. If Richardson is likely to be leaving with Theo signing a new deal then I would look at Welsby getting some
experience. He will be a massive star at Saints in the future, not that I am writing Danny off but in all likelihood it looks like he will depart at the end of the season. Feels like a Briers scenario but Danny is too good to sit in the stands for the next 2-3 years.

If we go this way, who kicks at goal?

This is strange, we could end up winning the grand final whilst losing twice to the team that could finish bottom

I've not got a problem with Richardson being selected and taking the goal kicks but don't forget we have a very competent kicker in Tommy Makinson and if Percy can kick (albeit reluctantly)

Lomax to Full Back, Richardson to the halves with Fages. Don't see the point in risking Welsby regardless of whether it is Halifax or not. Richardson has played enough this season for it not to be that much of a disruption.

True but there is a London thread i'd have thought would have been more suitable for discussion about our results against London rather than the Coote/Semi thread.

I totally understand but I'm not very tech savvy and have no idea how to start a new thread

I didn’t think he had a particularly great game that night to be honest. Seemed to remember he put a couple of balls down and kicked dead twice. Remember Lomax and Coote having good games. Not sure if I’m mixing my games up there.

Wakefield in the Cup I thought he played well. I thought he was much more controlled than in the other games he’s played this year.

If I’m honest though, I’d like to see Welsby get a go but I think he will go with Richardson.

Take it in turns, just to wind the likes of Leeds up even further.

Holbrook does seem to like to give young players a run for a few games rather than moving the squad around so I suspect for the Halifax game he may well stick with Welsbyand see how he goes.
If we'd have been playing Hull or Wire he most probably would have gone for one of the safer options

We can joke but we should be putting Halifax to the sword, and putting the fear of god into Hull or Warrington bsfore the final.

With a decent kicker, 4 points become 6 more often than not...

This is probably the only the second debate like this we've had all year as an injury in any other position is normally a straight swap because our squad depth is so good

Re reading JH last interview re Saturday... he has not actually said Coote is 100% out.
“I have a couple of ideas [to fill in at full back if Coote doesn’t play].

    Could he be playing games?

No disrespect to Halifax but I don’t think we need to be playing mind games or keeping them guessing. To be fair to Holbrook he’s a straight talker normally and I don’t recall him playing games with player availability in the past. Not sure why he’s start that now.

I’d be absolutely amazed if Coote plays.

Was rumoured last night on the Saints fans facebook group that Coote is out for six weeks. Hopefully nonsense!
