Why does it seem like all away fans out sing us?? The wigan fans made a hell of a lot more noise than we did last night.

Losers always put more effort it. Siege mentality and all that
On a slightly different note, if Wigan sold out their standing tickets, Saints should apply for the safety certificate capacity to be enlarged, from where I was sat there appeared to be plenty of space for more speccies particularly towards the corners, also quite a few hospitality seats did not appear to have been taken up. A good crowd of just over 17,000 but despite the announcement it did not appear to be a sell out
I think it was mentioned that Wigan had returned some of their allocation.
Problem with hospitality seating is that some of the guests will stay in the boxes and not use their seats. Years ago a firm I used to work for sponsored matches at Knowsley Road, it was done to entertain clients and customers but there was usually quite a few no shows.
There would also have been season ticket holders who are away on holiday or missing through other commitments.
It was a strange one last night. Big crowd, but just didn’t feel like a derby.
The Wigan end looked nowhere near full, loads of space all over. The East is slightly bigger but not by much.
I thought the atmosphere was good personally. Certainly better than the first home game v Wigan this year
It must be me. It was bouncing where I sit.
Wigan returned some of their North Stand seating tickets which went out for resale.
They also failed to sell (500ish?) East Stand tickets but Saints decided not to open pay at the turnstiles presumably as a precaution as Saints supporters may have bought them.
Well I thought the atmosphere was good and it did feel like a derby. Until about 60 minutes in.
It was a funny game, with all our errors and the piescum setting out with spoiling tactics, the game never really came alive apart from that spell early in the 2nd half. Don't remember us scoring from long range, either, which always gets the crowd going. We never looked in danger of losing so there was neither that adrenaline flowing nor a sense of relief when we got on top.
The Warrington game here a few weeks ago was a much better atmosphere. There was definitely a fear before kick off that we might lose, we played much better rugby, it was a more open game.
Have to disagree with the OP, was in the north stand adjacent to the west stand and I thought the atmosphere was the best since we moved to the TW. JonNgog makes a good point in that it was good until the 60th. It was probably earlier than that and down to the fact the game in itself was over as a contest by then. Had the scores been closer I think the atmosphere would have ramped up further in the closing stages at both ends of the ground
So did I Sean , to be honest sat in the South many of those around me were singing and clapping along as was so many of the North , far more than I have ever seen before. I thought the halftime entertainment was absolutely superb in more ways than one , so many kids were on the pitch it was a joy to see and the "truck" lol, and yes so many saying it's to dump the Wigan lot in had me chuckling. Secondly the girl sat next to me was the mother of one of the kids on the park , and no before someone says "freebee" you don't get freebies for the South , she absolutely loved it clapping and singing along and even said to me " it's good here init - love it" . This is the future support of our great club , whoever is responsible deserves a good word in he's/her ear well done .
roy litherland it's happened i told you it would
Side note....West stand was too full. People on steps blocking the way...stewards were powerless to stop people crowding in. Think it was was cos people just want their usual spec regardless of if anyones there or not. Was def against Ground regs last night regarding blocking access.
It was odd last night. I don't think I've ever felt less tense before and during a Derby game.
Last night I attended my first rugby league match being from Swansea I have followed union all my life but this season me and my son have watched a lot of rugby league on sky and we’ve enjoyed watching the brand of rugby St Helens have played and felt this was the perfect fixture for our first live game. I am used to watching pro 14 rugby with barely any atmosphere so last night was on a different planet we found the atmosphere fantastic.
Me and my family are not from the area but we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I have to say everyone we encountered working at the stadium or fans we talked to outside were really helpful. We will back again soon and to be honest we can’t wait!
Atmosphere was fine, but we had the idiots with the flares again in the East Stand and a few clowns trying to wind each other up at the East/ South corner. I got told there was trouble in the South Stand concourse at half time. Why people can't just go to a game and enjoy it is beyond me.
