    Default State of Origin 2019

Really looking forward to game one, Kick off in a couple of minutes time.

    Ponga vs Tedesco
    Mitchell vs Chambers
    DCE vs Cleary

Could go on with the head to heads throughout both teams.
Going for Queensland home win in game one but NSW to retain the series.

Always shout for NSW and will again.

Think the NSW pack will be too strong plus some serious skill and pace in the back line. Halves may be the weak link though.

Like they say it's a new era for Queensland. It's looking like a good un so far.

You'd hate to play against this NSW side. They have so much pace

Gagai had a heart problem earlier in his career, they must have found he had two! What a game, Munsters run earlier deserved a try, brilliant.

    A few random thoughts .....

Queensland deserved the win, on the back of some outstanding defence.

NSW lacked the wit and skill to breakdown the opposition's defensive line.

The intensity is impressive, but with the retirement of so many stars (Thurston/Slater/Smith/Cronk/Inglis), is the skill level that superior to Super League?

Cherry-Daly is a whiny *****, if he ever comes to Super League he'd fit in perfectly at Wigoon.

With respect to skill level both those Origin sides would beat any Super League side by a lot of points to nil. Skilful is hard to define but they are certainly much better teams.

    Absolutely.

Cook, Tadesco, Munster etc are fantastic players who will take some stopping on the international stage.

As per usual a terrific State of Origin game , played at a fantastic pace & intensity . Some of the players refused to sing Australian national anthem . They said the the part that says young & free is disrespectful to Aborigine's . Replacing the word strong for the word young would be better . All who agree say yes .

At this moment in time there do not appear to be any of the superstars we have had to contend with at international level since 1982 - there is no doubt that both teams are full of talented players, but there is nobody of the ilk of Lewis, Sterling, Meninga, Daley, Webke, Thurston, Smith, Inglis etc.
Even the players who have a reputation such as Tedesco, Ado-Carr, Mitchell definitely showed that they are not a patch on the players who have gone before.
I hope this provides us with a golden opportunity on the international stage in the world cup

First half thoughts, Fittler has been justified in the changes he made and Australia no longer have any Prop forwards.
The upfront battle had been rubbish

Trobojevic, Addo-Carr, Tedesco brilliant today, forwards laid the foundation and credit to Fittler, NSW have been great. Roll on for the decider.

Me, the NSW forwards won that over the QLDs forwards. Platform laid for the backs to get through, hard fought game, looking forward to game 3, July 10.

Just seen a bit of todays origin match and it was garbage, all the stereotypical, robotic plays that is modern rugby league. Unless they have another Brett Kenny, Meninga or Miles coming through we should be able to muster up 17 players to beat this load of cr*p!

They'd still beat us. Tedesco & the Trabojvic brothers are quality. Blake Ferguson is a top player, and you put Cordner, Gillet & Frizell in the back row, they're good enough

Cherry Evans is a very good club player but im not sure he’s an origin player. Origin is a competitors game. I agree with Buddy regarding Aussie forwards. If Ryan Sutton can do what he’s done over there imagine what Walmsley and Thompson would do. They would rip up that league. Imagine how much better origin would have been if Graham and Burgess participated over the last 6 years! The NRL’s clamping down on punching and sanitation of the game has made origin boring, imo.

Thought NSW were very good, Maloney made a difference IMO. Before game 1 all the talk was about Cook and Tedesco through the middle, Maloney brought a bit of composure with his kicking game and he ran them round the field. All of their changes came off IMO, Weighton at centre played with a lot of energy, Finucane did his job well as he does most weeks and obviously Trabojvic as well. His brother didn’t play too badly either.

My comment was made at half time, in the 2nd half the blues forwards really took control. The Queensland pack was dreadful for the full 80 mins.

Gillet has been poor all year so I can't see him being missed but you're right I can't see Queensland winning tonight

Really enjoyable first half but probably too much interference from the refs.
QLD managed to keep Cook & Todesco quiet for most of the half but the latter showed how special a player he is with that break before their try.

If Qld can keep those to quiet they stand more of a chance than I thought
