Agreed. Even if some concern re Roby with Bentley (and Knowles) in he can step in but offers more than Smith elsewhere.

I'd have Bentley starting and Roby coming off the bench, we all know how the first 20 can be, not that Roby won't put his hand up, we know he will but he probably doesn't need that first game back. (cue him scoring within minutes).

Wondered why Paulo was out, then I actually read the article. Ignore this.

Bentley will do a good defensive job out wide and Knowles is much better in the middle

    I'd agree with that

I don't think this will be far off. I would prefer to see Knowles at 13, but without Taia he is probably our best option at left SR.

I would guess that the reason Smith is there maybe that Roby needs a late fitness test.

If Roby is fit I agree with the idea of starting with Bentley then ease Roby into it.

Do we need Roby back for this?

If he needs a run out give him the last 20 minutes of the game. Whether we win or lose is pretty irrelevant.

Whoever plays in the 17 be it Roby or Smith, I would still give Bentley the No 9 spot for those tough first 20 mins. Let Roby or Smith play the 2nd + 3rd quarters and then see were we are in the game for the last quarter.

I don’t think it’s ever irrelevant whether we beat Wigan or not. Nor would I ever want the team to have that attitude.

I agree that a defeat wouldn’t harm us too much in terms of our league position, but a defeat to Wigan is never irrelevant for me or for most of the 18,000 people who will be there tomorrow.
Plus, a win for Wigan would not only give them confidence should we play them again later in the year, it would also boost their top 5 chances which could come back to bite us too.

In no way is the outcome of tomorrow night irrelevant.

I’m inclined to agree with TYG a Saints v Wigan Derby is never irrelevant no matter what sky thinks, besides we need to halt there current march up the table and put there fans back in there box.

I'll add my voice to the chorus of agreement. Tomorrow is a real opportunity to twist the knife, and I hope we take it with relish.

I mean it should be irrelevant in terms of how many minutes Roby should play and when he should play them.

If it was a final or a knockout game then the result is key and you keep him going as long as possible.

But if we are down by 6 tomorrow night I would hope we spell Roby as planned, rather than just keeping him on to help win the game, but risking any recovery.
