If we play within our structure off the back of the platform our forwards set there’ll be plenty of try scoring opportunities for us. Whether Wigan can shut them down for 80 minutes is another question. I think it’ll be fairly close until the last half an hour and Saints will pull away with the re-introduction of Walmsley and Thompson. Just need Knowles marking Williams and to smash him every time he throws that dummy that is working so well for him at the moment. Kick chase is crucial as well with their back 3 very dangerous on the kick return.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

I hope he doesn't let the piescum yard-dogs get away with dirty cheapshots, but I won't hold my breath. I foresee a spike in posts on the 'Refs ruining the game' thread after Friday.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Liam Byrne goes tonight. Sammy Kibula got lots of praise for his performances in the academy last season but for me Byrne appears the better prospect. Both are still only nineteen years of age but Byrne is a bit more aggressive.
Morgan Smithies and Ollie Partington have both stepped up well, especially Smithies who is still only eighteen so it'll interesting to see how they perform against a big Saints pack.

    Have fun, enjoy the game.

Is that a subtle way of saying that you've got a bunch of kids out?

To be fair, it could be interesting. Your youngsters will not be as familiar to our players and coach, plus they will want to give a good account of themselves on such a big stage.
I still think we will have too much for you, but stranger things can happen!

...And yes, that's a subtle way of me saying you might just nick this one!

I remember (sadly) them putting out a load of kids a few years ago.

Quite probably but not for the reasons you would think. One of my best friends is missing his first Wigan v Saints games since 1996. He was due to have an operation two weeks ago but they couldn't do it as one of his arteries is now completely blocked, so we're waiting for the next step, it'll be strange hot having him stood beside me tonight.

Young Bentley did more yards than them

What meters did our props do?

I thought Amor put in a good shift, very sound and solid made 100+ hard metres right down the throat of the goons middle. He was difficult to put down and progressed like one of those oil tankers but in a positive way sapping the energy of those younger goon forwards.

For the stick he gets, Amor has great last night & has been very good for over a month. One run won a crucial penalty on tackle five which led to the Coote try. Some good stats, second behind only Tommo in metres made backs that up.
Bentley keeps getting better, Lees played 60 mins & was very aggressive & Naiqama excellent too. Best player on the field for me though was Knowles. Absolutely everywhere looking forward to getting Zeb back and getting his hands back to loose forward. Will give our attack another 15-20%.

Agree on Amor. One of our better forwards last night

Bloke behind me was slagging Amor off something chronic, moaning about his every contribution. Meanwhile Amor was racking up 100m+ and putting some great hits in. That’s five or six strong performances in a row from Amor now.

The only problem we have is not so much our front row but our left sided second row with Zeb Tai missing we need to balance that side. For me Percival was operating as a second row/centre having to arm wrestle at times, when Roby returns it might be worthwhile in the next couple of games to put Bentley on that left hand edge.

I think while Taia and Roby have been out Bentley has impressed enough to give Holbrook something to think about. His distribution at hooker is still a bit slow, often delaying the pass or taking a step or two, but he’s shown great tenacity and I can definitely see a future for him in the second row
