Thought LMS had too many handling errors to put him in the top 3

I’m quite surprised by the calls for Smith. I like him but I think he struggled defensively tonight and has done generally since coming into the team.

    I’d go for:

    Makinson
    Walmsley
    Coote

We definitely missed Knowles and Roby tonight!

I think Smith also deserves a mention as leading tackler (even though he missed a few although his failure rate is far below that of Lees, Ashworth and Naiqama), for his perseverance despite a few knocks and his passing from the ptb which is Roby-esque

He picked up a leg injury around the 50 min mark but courageously carried on playing and dropped off a few tackles, I thought Bentley should have gone on a bit earlier instead of waiting for Smith to recover.

Smith tried hard but whilst work was high quality was low. I thought he was outplayed by Dwyer. His decisions and distribution weren't the best Ive seen from him either.
I thought Saints missed Knowles last night.

Not sure. I reckon Dwyer flatters to deceive, he missed more tackles and had more errors than Smith, I think Smith made 42 tackles against Dwyer's 26. The only advantage is that Dwyer is quick scooting from the PTB but he doesn't have an all round game which Smith is very much a "work in progress" towards that objective.

Dwyer has had 10 times (170) more experienced games than Smith (17) I hope most of our fans take that in consideration when he comes up against seasoned pro's. We know he's not an 80 min player like Roby but we could have done with like you mentioned Knowles taking over when Smith got that leg knock.

special mention to the pilot of that plane. We should use that for a massive motivation. If any was needed.
