Can’t blame him. Too good to be a 3rd choice winger. All the best to him.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

Sorry to see Swifty go. A player with exceptionally good footwork but too often let himself down by losing the ballGood luck Allan. I'm sure the Hull fans will take to you.

God's luck to him as he deserves a chance to play regularly.

Quite glad he’s joined a bang average side like Hull, nothing against him at all, he’s a good player and I’d hate us to regret letting him go. At least with Hull, he’ll spend 80% of his time behind the sticks under Radford.

Given that Hull have signed Josh Jones and Adam Swift, I’m expecting them next to go for Kyle Amor. If he’s followed by rumours of Paul Wellens and Lance Hohaia joining the exodus, it’ll confirm they’re just trying to reform our 2014 Grand Final winning team. It would still probably have more chance of GF success than the current Hull side, however.

    Always liked Swift.
Injuries and loss of confidence led to a total loss of form then further injuries, loss of confidence prevented him from ever staking a good enough claim to get back in the team.

Hope he gets a good injury free run with Hull, would love to see him playing well again, just not against us!

Too good to not be playing first team, but this year Grace has opened up the gap between them. Good luck to him personally, if not to Hull.

Wish him nothing but the best. Good player, exceptional on his day but was prone to some really silly mistakes and dumb decision making.

Hope he does (not too) well at Hull!

I thank him for his service to Saints. Deserves the chance to play more games. I'm glad that it will be at a team who don't appear to be a threat, so although he might score against us in the regular season, I don't see us regretting letting him go.

Good luck to Swift who has been an honest club servant. Without meaning to sound disrespectful, it is a wise decision by sites as it’s pretty pointless having back up wingers at the club draining the salary cap. More so when there are a few contracts to upgrade.

I can think of one club who would be better placed to take note and improve their powderpuff pack as opposed to keeping four wingers on their books like some hoarder trying to stop anyone else getting them. I think many can guess who this club may be, though there is an irony that it could be argued that there is some method in the madness given long term injuries to two of their wingers.

Sad to see him go. A true Saint. Not sure why he's gone to Hull. They are rubbish. Play well there and a big club will come calling i'm sure.

They’ve won more than us in the last 5 years, have a nice stadium be it shared, have a good following and have a good side on there day. He could do an awful lot worse than Hull whether you like them or not. I’d also bet he’s not on a shabby wage.

Good luck Swifty! As others have said, far too good to be out of a regular starting place and going to Hull will give him that regular playing time. Good strike rate from the amount of games he has played and I hope we dont regret letting him go as he is obviously still young too. He should ALWAYS get a good reception back at the club from the supporters as he has always given good service and "one of our own"

    BEST OF LUCK!

Good luck. A nice lad and a decent player who deserves a starting place in a SL team.

    Good luck to him.

Any idea what the backup plan for next year is now for our wingers? Are we looking at somebody or will we promote an Academy product should Grace/Makinson get injured/need resting?

I think the way they will look at it is that with the salary cap it’s more if a priority to have cover in other positions and use any outside back on the wing if there’s an injury, Costello for example would do a job I’m sure. I just don’t think it’s feasible to carry a winger on decent money to play half a dozen times a season

Good look Swifty. Too good not to get first team action. Just unfortunate for him that Makinson and Grace are playing so well.

I can only think of Jack Welsby or Josh Simms going on the wing, quite a few other super league teams have 3 or 4 wingers.

Hasn’t Naqama played on the wing in the NRL?

Agreed but in times of injury crisis you could put Costello/Welsby/Sims in the centre. You’d maybe think that by the start of next season we’d have sorted out some kind of contingency plan for cover. It’s amazing to think that Wigan have four wingers at their disposal - Davies, Marshall, Manfredi and Burgess - but the flip side of this is that they are either injured or average.

Always liked Swift. It was a nice luxury having him around as back-up but he's obviously too good to be occupying that role in the prime years of his career. All the best to him.
