If he went to Catalans I'd accept that, he'll probably want to go back and prove himself, he could also potentially make his name as being one of the best French players ever, playing for his hometown club.. not to mention all his family being there..

it's just like St Helens lads wanting to come back here, but probably a bit more, from his social media he's obviously a proud Catalonian..

Finger's crossed we can keep him though, I think Castleford would be a definite step down for him

Just replied without seeing this, never realised this was the case

I’m sorry but Richardson is not good enough to hold a crucial role at Saints. In time he might prove me wrong but if Theo leaves and Danny is our long term plan B I’ll be gutted.

It isn't long ago that some were saying that Fages wasn't good enough for Saints.

Not sure about coming from an area that are bitter rivals to Cats. Cats only played in the French competition for 5 years.

Fages for me has always been a more solid overall player.

His weakness was decision making but he's improved a lot in that department this season.

    I've always rated Fages

At this moment in time he is better than Danny Rich, although DR has time to improve.

I hope Fages stay and has a lng run in the team

I spoke to him recently when escorting Limoux U15s on a tour of the stadium - he said he would love to play for Catalan Dragons before he ends his career

Cas can have Fages if they want ....... But it needs to be a trade for about half a dozen players, including Trueman and Gale.

Wouldn't have any of their players, don't think they are good enough for Saints to be honest. Watts could be considered at a push.

He's OOC at the end of the season, that's the point

I’d take McMeekan as well, maybe Moors as well

All irrelevant mind as there’s not a swap deal to be done.

Imo it's decision making that lets Richardson down. I find him increadibly frustrating beause He could be a really good player but so often does the wrong thing

It's as if he was so good when younger he could make these decisions and get away with it, now the stakes are higher, teams are better he needs to enhance and develop his game further

I refer to lower club rugby. His family are associated with Baroudeurs de Pia XIII (Pia Donkeys) who are a Catalonia team and rivals with other Catalans teams. As I said he was shunned by Catalans as a kid hence he moved to Salford. I have heard him talk on several occasions about Catalans and it’s never been positive.
But everyone has their price. But I would be surprised if he went there.

His view may soften with time, and the attraction of playing SL for a French club may be appealing in his long term plans

Thought Danny Richardson had a good 1st half yesterday, he'd not played for a few games, and slotted in nicely. Missed the 2nd half as it was obvious who was going to win, so I took the dogs for a walk. Sorry....

    Don't worry mate.

Most of our supporters didn't even bother turning up yesterday

IMO he is not a patch on Fages. If Fages goes we need to buy a replacement. Danny (unless he improves hugely) is not the answer. He did not have a bad game and I’m not anti Danny, I just think he is not good enough for us if you compare him to what we have with Fages.

Not once during the game did I think ”Fages would have done better with that” - I did think “Fages wouldn’t have hit that ball to Makinson” for the Makinson try though. I dont think Richardson would have set up Makinsons first try vs Salford though.

I think the gap between the two players is being hugely overplayed by both sides. Richardson would be more than capable of stepping up if Fages left. But equally his improvement rate would drop dramatically. They’re both making the other better players at the moment

Be careful, that almost sounds like a fairly balanced, logical view of the situation. Not sure posts like this are common place on here!
