Default 19 Man Squad v Salford - NO ROBY

Justin Holbrook has made two changes to his 19 man squad ahead of our Super League Round 15 clash with Salford Red Devils on Friday at the Totally Wicked Stadium (kick off 7:45pm) as James Bentley and Jack Welsby come in for James Roby and Danny Richardson.

James Bentley returns to the squad for the first time since featuring in the win over Catalans at the Totally Wicked Stadium back in April. He comes in for captain James Roby who drops out with a minor niggle.

Aaron Smith therefore retains his place in the squad and Danny Richardson is the other absentee, replaced by the versatile Jack Welsby.

Good to see these kids getting some really good game time. Seems we've learned alot from last season. Squad rotation has been much better.

Aaron Smith is a good substitute for Roby. I dont think we need to worry now about the lad stepping up, he is a quality player.

Roby was very quiet against hudds, I thought he looked a bit out of sorts.

I also thought the same thing. Just looked at the MOM votes for the Huddersfield game and no one picked either Roby, Lomax or Cootes. Without looking back I bet it is the first time this season that at least one of them has not featured in a top 3 pick.

Yet Sky panel voted Cootes M.O.M. Apart from a couple of long passes & a tap-in try I did not think Cootes deserved it . All told very difficult to pick a M.O.M Tommy Mak. got my vote definitely think he should replace Percy in the big games ie. C/C .

Two players to watch in the Salford team , both forwards Ben Nakabuwai & Pauli Pauli .
Just as an add-on , I am living in N.Thailand on the border with Laos . It is 08:30 , the

Only just seen that Pauli Pauli and Junior Sa'u have swapped in a loan deal. Seems a strange one.

Holbrook mentioned that Lomax and Roby took knocks early in the game. Coote and Fages both had below par games. So all our pivots struggled and hence the team were not there usually effective efficient selves.

According to Wakey fans, Pauli Pauli is no where near last seasons form.

If you move Makinson to centre you not only lose his ball carrying abilities from defensive positions and his prowess under the high ball but also end up with a substandard centre who will starve the winger outside of him.

Sensible thing would have been to bring in Simm for the centre spot and keep Makinson on the wing. He is a good individual centre as well as being a good centre for his winger and it being his natural position in the squad. Though Swift does deserve a spot in the team too as he hasn’t let anyone down when coming in and wouldn’t be surprised if he has the best strike rate out of the 3 wingers. With Makinson/Swift on the wing and Simm in the centre that would be some strike down that side, much more than Costello and Grace on the other side.

The coach has a history of putting his faith in these young players. I would think the players will not swap positions to ensure senior squad members play. He will stick with Costello and Smith

Some truly awful defence from us. Both in man on man tackling and our line standing watching Robert Louis.

Everyone associated with Salford must be sick as a dog after that.

We seem to be running too many lines so players cross or causing confussion where to pass the ball.

It’s because Sky have told them too. Nothing wrong with it - when you slow any tackle down to that level you see the ball doing silly things.

The response is how George Griffin wasn’t penalised to take Coote out with a flop/ second tackle is beyond me

Terrible tonight. Bentley lost that but I'll take it. Lui was brilliant for them. Just couldn't get near him

That was a shocking decision. If you can't see that you shouldn't be reffing at this level. Basic.

The Coote tackle I mean. I agree regarding our try

Got out of jail there, if that gets sent up to the VR as no try I don’t think it would have been given.
I thought 2 of Coote’s conversions went over as well.
