    Good at amateur and academy level doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll make it big in the pro game though.

    Groups of players don’t often make their way into the top echelons, it’s unusual for a team to keep a nucleus and not have people leaving the club, or the sport.

    Catalan tackling was a disgrace for a S.L. Team. Wigan must have the poorest squad they have had for many a long year. Leeds still a long way to go. Apart from Warrington and Saints it seems to be on a steady downhill.

    Very true, so many people see a young player rip it up yet they never come through, much more to being successful than being good at 14

    Point is though, generally speaking if your 19s are continually at the top of the league you are more likely to turn out some top pros than those mid table

    I agree, but my point was that if you don’t keep them together they splinter and just end up being good players in isolation in different teams rather than great players.

    Overall it’s a team game of course, and you need a bunch who’d run through brick walls for one another, like we seem to be doing now
