Would losing Swift justify keeping the rest of the squad together?

Austin was well known in the nrl and like Barba was never played top level international games due to the quality of other players in his position. He is a well known name who would attract fans. Hastings is no doubt a good player but is more known for his troubles. If you are going to pay marquee money then you want a big name who will put bums on seats. Would Hastings be worth 3 or 4 hundred thousand a year ? Would he generate the interest of Barba or Austin or Widdop ? That for me anyway is a marquee player.
Hastings was a liability defensively at the weekend. For those that have seen him play a few times, was that an aberration?
Hastings reminds me of Dobson when he first arrived in the UK. He's playing really well and generating lots of interest but probably isn't good enough to come back to the NRL.
Having said that I think he would be a good signing for us because he would add a great deal to our team.

Hastings I believe is more than good enough for NRL but his discipline lapses on and off the field in Australia are the reason he is in Super League - he is out of the NRL goldfish bowl at Salford and it has been an inspired partnership that has suited both parties well.
I think he is at least a season off a return to Australia but because of the past baggage I don’t expect Holbrook or McManus to gamble.
Some Hull fans seem to think they have signed Adam Swift, and he was at their training ground today !
Swift confirmed to Hull next year
Would have been nice to keep him but he deserves first team rugby and he wasn’t likely to get that here anytime soon.

Is the link to the signing

Good luck to the lad, we can’t keep everyone.
I'll be sorry to lose him from the team. Proper St Helens lad. But good luck to him.
My Beef is he is wearing a Hull top in the picture and still plays for us the prick
Don't blame him for moving just poor judgment on him posing in the Hull top now should have waited until season end
Absolutely. Good winger and a credit to the club over the years. My son was just starting out as a fan (not knowing anything about Saints growing up in a non RL area) when I saw him in the club shop once, asked him could he have a pic with him although I felt a bit cheeky as he wasn’t on duty as such, but he couldn’t have been nicer and had a little chat with him for a couple of minutes. Little moments like that go a long way
Maybe that gives us a bit more leverage with salary cap money for next season?
