He's a very good player. I mentioned him and Welsby on here last year.

Wire and Leeds also look to have strong teams this time around.

Simm looks like the kind of back Wigan do well producing; big, strong and fast. Our backs on the whole are usually a lot smaller and not as speedy.

Played scrum half up until around u12s I think it was then moved to LF but still wore the No7 shirt. Good to see local top class talent coming through at our club.

I was thinking that he came into the club scholarship as a scrum half but Welsby started to fill one of the half back positions and was running the plays and Josh moved out to the centres once he moved up to the academy.

No mate, he was picked up as a backrower as he had only been playing LF since around 12/13 years old and he played all of scholarship at 2nd row incl both tests for England against France. The match reports from the Oz tour had him play centre in all those games and he has been kept at centre ever since. I am reliably informed he was already the quickest in the Academy in his first year last season so if he was still playing backrow, he would have probably been the quickest backrow around at Academy.

The new centre on the other side Nico also looks to have some pace on him from the "Bulls TV" game and the London game which I was able to get to, so with Nisbet on one wing and Welsby at fullback there is genuine pace threat out wide. The other winger Hutchin with the red headguard is a different type of winger and is doing some strong carries without having the speed of the others.

Didn't realise he went into the pack as a teenager through to the Academy. He seems to have a good change of pace and direction.

Anyone know if the scholarship game at the stadium today is still on? I presume it will be with it being at the stadium but the lead up weather has been pretty bad.

I'm surprised at the closeness of the score. Huddersfield were woeful at Wigan last week, and two of that team then played in the 1st team v Saints on Thursday. Did Saints field a lot of their 1st years?

I believe we have a much younger side than previous seasons.

A wins a win fella. Could be a whole host of factors that made the scoreline a lot closer than the previous week, not least the motivation to improve on what, as you say, was a woeful performance the previous week.
Using your theory you could say that going off recent results its surprising that Wigan and Leeds managed to get so close to saints in this seasons games
