Default Batchelor out on season loan

Joe Batchelor has rejoined York on a season long loan - but with a 24hr recall option in Saints favour.

Surprised by this - does this mean he hasn’t kicked on as we thought he would? Or needs further time to develop?

Always thought it was a weird signing. I suspect he must be way off.

Tbh it doesn’t surprise me - doesn’t really change his position in the squad.
That is unless he’s training with York and not Saints now.

He’s still only played league 1 up until this season. Bentley has a year at Saints on him plus we’ve got plenty options in the pack. Hopefully Batchelor can work his way into the team for next year, I think that would have always been the plan with us still having Taia, Peyroux etc etc. Definitely not writing him off.

I guess as forwards go he's still relatively young, I assume he still lives near York so from a practical point of view he may as well be on loan there as at Leigh

I think Batchelor and Bentley are probably long term replacements for the likes of LMS, Taia and Peyroux. I imagine they aren’t on particularly big money like any of the other fringe players so it’s no big deal for me and they are quality back up players if we get a few injuries in the forwards

I assume he will still be training with us during the week.
It’s better for his development that he’s playing regularly.
