Reminds me a bit of the Gidley signing - replacing an absolute worldie, a former MOS, not as explosive as his predecessor but my word is he a classy operator

He brings more of an all round game in himself, and offers more to the team. His comments off the field and on camera also make it easy to understand why he is becoming such a favourite.

Just watched the match replay and his try, his timing of the run up was brilliant, he didn't bother looking at Zak Hardaker just watched the ball all the time. Great control, "cool hand coote" nothing seems to phase him.

Picked his pocket twice under the high ball.
Not sure if Hardaker’s extra stone or two are weighing him down.

Really pleased with Coote, classy player. Seems a really pleasant and likeable guy too.

Robes absolutely smashed him out of the way for his try, flat on his back.

He’s got a great future young Roby......

He has been outstanding! I do remember reading a lot of negativity about his signing on here. I don't watch enough nrl to have an opinion then but his effect on how the whole team functions has be a revelation. Best full back since wello.

Coote looking for another 2 years on top of his current 3.

Think we need to not get carried away here.

Seems to be a conversation for next easter/ October rather than now.

Don't want to end up with a brett hodgson situation.

Five years for a 29 year old? I would leave it a full season then maybe talk

It’s in the papers so must be taken with at least a ouch of salt.

What I would say is Cootes style of play would seem to lend itself to a longer career than that of say a Barba. He’s not one to be relying on his speed for his main asset.

True but not sure that's the issue, five year contracts are rare for many reasons particularly for an import

The 3 year deal is enough at the moment, as you imply 5 years for a 29 years old could be a season too far. It reminds me a bit of Veivers who ended up at Saints for over 10 years bur Veivers was only a 21 year old when he signed for Saints.

We need to see how others things develop further down the track, at the end of the day we've only had a good start to the season better to see how things look when we are in the business end of the plays off etc.

I agree but what is good is that Coote is settled and happy here. It doesn't look like were going to get a Barba situation where he wants to go home.

I knew he'd be a good player the worry before the season for me was would he settle here? We'll I think he's well and truly answered that question now.

A new deal is well off at this stage, let's see how he's performing in 18 months time.

If he is still going well at the end of 2 years I would probably the offer him a fourth year. After that at his age we could probably offer him a year if we wanted, as he would be too old for the NRL. I'm really happy that he wants to stay, I just hope is current form continues.

I will be honest. I didn’t really rate Coote and thought it was a bad signing. But he’s been great for us and more importantly an all round decent bloke. From what i heard Barba never paid a bill in his house from July onwards last year and his kids tore it to pieces. Just what i heard.

He’s striking the ball a lot cleaner. I imagine he’s a good pro and has been practicing a lot...
