Yes Ridyard, and he is now looking his age, strange how some players as they get older still look good, but that is when you have real talent!

Richardson and Woods were the two ball players, Ridyard was playing full back. Woods actually had to physically move Ridyard into the right position a couple of times. The two halves were calling the plays.

The point about systems etc is a good one to be fair, Leigh yesterday split their half backs and they both played first receiver depending on where the ball was. Saints use their forwards as a first receivers a lot of the time so he is playing a different role than he was at Saints. On the plus side, it means he’ll have more involvements.

He is trying to be a playmaker running across the line and firing out passes. For that to be effective your teammates have to be familiar with your style so it could take a few weeks to get in tune with each other.
Problem is that when he returns to Saints he'll need to get in tune with Saints players so it may take a few weeks to settle in again.
I guess he's been playing the game since he was a kid so he must have talent to have made it so far. For me he needs specialist half back training and to be learning training drills with Lomax and Foote.
    Great points.

I think Richardson has enough strings to his bow to be a very good scrum half, one in the Sean Long mould*.

    * no, I'm not comparing him to Long before the attack vultures swoop, just the general playing style, as opposed to, say, a Danny Brough or, to go back a bit further, a Paul Deacon.

Richardson looked a completely different player when Smith came on against Fev last week , both were singing from the same song sheet.

No need for that, Riddy has always been a good championship player, and won us the game v Featherstone the week before, but he has come back a lot 'chunkier' than when he left us 2 years ago. Has a great Rugby brain, but has never been the quickest of players...

It was about 3 years ago I thought a bigger super league club at the time would have had a punt on him, he had a good kicking and passing game, was just short on pace that may have held him back.
