Why have Leeds started with 2 away games Warrington, Wigan and a 3rd away against the Saints next week

To those on here who stated we ‘missed out’ on Lolohea, I’m still glad we didn’t go for him.

Looks more like a prop than a stand off.

Saints is their fourth away game, they are away to Salford on Sunday.

Neither is their team by the looks of it.

They'll most probably run into form when they play us a week on Friday

Would I be crazy to think Salford may have a chance?

The Salford game has been brought forward due to both clubs entering the Challenge Cup in the 5th round, as all clubs that finished in the Top 4 of the Middle 8's last season do.

Leeds 1st home game at Headingley is 1st March against Wakefield
    St Helens Openwater Swimming Society

Wouldn’t surprise me if the bookies had them slight favourites.

I’d say Salford are definite favourites at home and on form

Couldn’t agree more. He’s a pudding. He missed a few tackles leading to Warrington tries last week too. Leeds look shyte.

Who was bemoaning us missing out on him ?
He's been poor in the NRL for years, pretty much every since he thought he could play at half back. He looked good in his early career, particulalrly at centre or FB, but then his form really started to drop off.
He had a few good games at international level still but his club form was poor.

Similar story with Hurrell. Burst onto the scene with the Warriors and looked to be the real deal. Unfortunately he has a body like Gary Wheeler that struggles to cope with the heavy knocks every week. The more injuries he got the more weight he put on and the slower he became, until he's nothing more than a 'battering ram' now. His lateral movement is awful, coupled with his tendancy to shoot the line to look for the big hit all the time, and he's something of a liability in defence. Oh and he has hands like flippers in most games too.

Lolohea and Hurrel might be 'big names' in the game, but both are living off past reputations and haven't really delivered on the pitch for years.

Problem is for every 'Hardaker' tackle he makes he'll get his timing wrong and miss 2 or 3 others leaving his wingman completly exposed.

Me too - looked dire against Wigan.

I was reading that he’s looking like a bit of a Hohaia signing in that he was a utility man that they’ve tried to put in as the main man at stand off. He looked painfully slow when he had an open field in front of him

I am not getting carried away here; they could easily up their game against us and cause an upset.

Great result for Leeds today. Just watched the highlights on Sky and they scored some nice try’s. We’ll need to be on our guard on Friday!

Just showed that Salford hadn’t played anybody decent prior to this game. Leeds were a different kettle of fish and they will be a stern test of Saints mettle on Friday.

Surprised by that result, I thought Salford might pip it. It’s a big advantage that Leeds have had a game and we haven’t this early, but at least them having a good result will focus our minds a bit more and we won’t be caught off guard

With a new coach and a few new players it was bound to take them a few weeks to get their act together.
Hopefully we'll be too strong for them on Friday
