Ouch. Season over before it’s even started you’d think. Awful luck

Is isn't it? Not his biggest fan but terrible luck for him. Don't like seeing players hurt, had a problem with an achilles myself & it's a really difficult injury to overcome, good luck to the lad

Gale and cas have had some terrible luck these past few years.

Wish him all the best with his recovery.

Reading on the cas forum this morning, they are saying Roberts and Ellis won't start the season either? Could be a tough start for them

Hard luck that. Always have to wonder if he will get back to his old self having played so little rugby for such a long time.

Terrible luck for Gale the past couple of years. Maybe hard to come back at 31 after virtually 2 years.

    Hope he recovers.

Maybe but I don't want him to leave a very good player and top bloke, the type you want around

Still you cannot keep all fans happy, there's ways a so called fan waiting to slag you off

I don’t want him gone either but, understandably, he will want a nailed on first team spot and I don’t see that happening with Saints this season. Utility maybe but unless things change that’s all he’s going to be. There’s no way he is better than Gale but maybe Powell will take Theo on loan?

I should imagine they will use McShane, Trueman, Roberts and Ellis as half backs, all not quite as good as Gale though in the kicking department though.

Why would we loan them a very good squad player ? Theo is worth more to us than loaning him out.

Not if he’s sitting in the stands for weeks. Saints might want him to get valuable game time. Without a reserve grade players like Theo, Swift and Amor will need to be playing.

Obviously we still have to pay his wage and he would be the highest earner I'm not sure if he comes off the salary cap now or not for next season

We are a better team with him on the bench. While I get your point about players and game time,we don't want to be loaning players to teams who are going to be fighting for a playoff place with us.

For me he should always be on the bench to spell Roby for 15 - 20 mins, I know we have Knowles but Fages is always an attacking threat against a tiring opposition and with the reduced interchanges I reckon he would be more effective.

We also don't want to leave ourselves short should something happen to one of our HB's.

I like Fages but I think he is saddled with the problem of not being properly suited to any one position; he's not physical enough for the defensive rigours of playing 9 and he's not creative or cool-headed enough to be a really good half-back. It's a shame, as he's talented, but I suspect that once we have viable youngsters in the halves/hooker area he'll probably be let go. It wouldn't make sense to move him on now, though, as we are short of back up in those areas.

Back on topic, what horrific luck for Gale. At least people do seem to recover from Achilles injuries these days better than they used to, so hopefully he'll be back in good shape next year.

    I really feel for Gale

Rotten luck. He must be tearing his hair out.
