It'll be interesting to see how he does with a grass-roots club after learning from his experience (some of it bitter) at Salford.
Someone once said that the purpose of reading History is so we don't make the same mistakes again.

Pity piggy Fletcher isn't still around, he could give Marwan a few pointers
Didn’t he make similar noises about a Cumbria team for SL a year or so ago?
He'll be on a hiding to nothing, his experience with Salford should tell him this. They are a long established club with virtually no fans. There is interest in RL here in Liverpool but those who are prepared to actually go to a game will already be aligned to Saints , Widnes , Wigan or Warrington. Marwan doesn't seem to be the type who'd be in for the long haul and would probably want instant success. I think he'd be better going back in for Widnes
Heard a rumour yesterday that the reason he pulled out from Widnes deal was because he wasnt allowed to rebrand widnes as "liverpool "

Well if you click the link now it's a definite change in brand
Hmmm If he starts from the bottom then it has every chance of success. I understand the comments of, if people in Liverpool are interested they would be going to Widnes/Saints etc. But we are forgetting that they don't really have any identity to these clubs, and given a club in the right location with perhaps a nice neat ground with a vibe around the area - Sefton Park for example, or the Baltic Triangle
If it starts from the bottom up it will be very small financial risk in the short term building up the brand and base. The top down approach has been proven to fail in RL many times, so why not try organic growth.
I know there was the thing about his ‘wife’ buying Bradford and the RFL blocking it, but is there any reason why he couldn’t buy them now? With the right investment Bradford could be lifted back up to super league with a solid youth setup and a big potential fan base in an RL stronghold.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.
Maybe he is thinking ahead - with the expansion of Super League ( rather than growth in new areas) he might see Liverpool as one of the sides that will feature alongside, Toronto, New York, Barcelona etc.
If true , first thing that springs to mind : more money than sense . Investing in Saints now that would have made real sense . One question how does anyone become a billionaire from horse racing !!!
He didn't he is a successful business man who's hobby is breeding and running racehorses. The fact that he loves our game is to be celebrated in my opinion. If he wants to found and grow a new club starting from the bottom then good luck to him. Why buy out an old failing club and put up with snide comments all day long?
Learned comment from The Don
There are major question marks over his actual level of net wealth in terms of what has been previously reported, and his business empire is - I shall be careful here - difficult to decipher.
In my job, there are times I have to dig down into a 'corporate family tree' and respective balance sheets to gain a broad understanding of the financial standing of a company/group. And I was scratching my head at times with this one.
I'm not saying he isn't wealthy - he's certainly a millionnaire. But the figures I've seen bandied about are optimistic to say the least.
I agree, I have nothing against the guy. If he wants to put money into RL good luck to him. I know he can be controversial and can comes across as wanting to be the main man, but I don't understand all those who say they would never want him near Saints. Would he do as well as McManus and Coleman? Probably not, But if those two walked away, he would be someone that has been local for nearly 40 years loves the game and can afford to run a club.
I have to admit Liverpool would not be my first choice.
However it could work, comparing a fully financed professional team to a transient semi pro team from a decade ago is a poor one to make.
I guess it depends where they are based. Liverpool University have sports grounds in Mossley Hill that location would be a good choice...

Liverpool Uni have redeveloped their campus a lot in recent years and a duel purpose facility would stand a good chance of getting some funding.
I know I have said this before but if I was a multi-millionaire that wanted to invest the sport I would take over Rochdale and Oldham and make a North Manchester regional team with half the games played in both towns.
I don't understand why people are bagging Marwin, we need more people that want to invest in the sport. It is down to him to work out what is the best way to spend his money.
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.
I am sure that if teh Doc funded a new club to the extent he did at Salford it would do ok in the lower leagues and who knows after that
Surely being based in the North and properly funded it would have a better chance of succeeding than some of the other clubs that have had a go
A Liverpool should in time be able to dual reg with Wire or Saints and for fans of those clubs having a "2nd" club on the doorstep might prove an attraction.
The University ground is probably the only potential ground in South Liverpool. In the North there is Marine's ground in Crosby and think there is a new football ground near Aintree. Could always turn the clock back and go to Prescott !
As said above a new club can be shaped as he sees fit and isnt carrying round years of tradition which can sometimes get in the way
I would say he's not got a cat in hell's chance in Liverpool. No interest in RL whatsoever. Interesting to see 'local businessman' Andy Mikhail quoted. St Helens lad who has business interests in this town, Southport and latterly Liverpool.
Good point. I think at some point you just have to ignore a noisy minority. How many people are actually supporting these clubs at the moment and how many people who are Rugby League fans in Cumbria and Northern Greater Manchester are staying at home because they know teams in their area have no future.
I can understand why a merger for mergers sake would just result in one small team rather than two, but of someone came in with money it would be hard to turn this individual down.
I suspect that Marwin's frustration at Salford (and potentially what he thought would happen at Widnes) was that the core fans didn't care much for expanding the club to new audiences. The average Salford fan would probably want the team to be called Salford and only have fans from Salford, but there is only 1-2k of these fans left after years of mediocrity. At what point does an owner just ignore a dwindling core fan base and start looking for the 10 thousand people needed to make a Super League club sustainable. A part of me believes that the fans panel that owns and runs Salford is Marvin giving the chance to taste their own dog food. If Salford get relegated and start having issues paying the rent, Marwin can turn to them and say "well, this is what you asked for, this is what you wanted". Going to Widnes and hearing "This is a Widnes team, for Widnes fans" probably scared him off and brought him to the concussion if you want to break a big Northern City i.e. Liverpool/Manchester, then you probably just have to do it from scratch.
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.

Not sure who he could uy and move to Liverpool without a drop off in fans.
I've seen no evidence for this other than hearsay on Twitter, but the suggestion is that he's been trying to buy Widnes with a view to relocating them to Liverpool. That's failed, so he's now looking to start from scratch.
Interesting that he mentions Sefton. The club could be setting up somewhere like Maghull, Crosby or Formby ... possibly even Southport ... rather than the city itself.
