    Default RLWC 2021 venues

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/47040055

    Some interesting venues.

Presume this link will have full details later.

St Helens is one of the host cities and the women's and wheelchair tournament gets a high profile.

Yes, its on the Saints Website now, didn't we have the Australia v Fiji game last time out!

BBC sport not got it quite right though, apparently we have the smallest capacity ground only holding 1800 fans.

Leeds did ok out of it. I only had a quick look, but Wigan and Leigh seemed to have been lumped together with the games at LSV?

Is there a rugby stadium in Wigan though?
Perhaps there was a wedding on at the football one on the day the organisers had in mind....

I imagine Wigan not having any games is due to stadium issues with regards to the owner.

RG - 'Someone in the know told me Lenagan didn't want a game anyway; it was all entirely Wigan's decision. We weren't overlooked... honest guv.'

Hard when there isn't a rugby stadium in the town though. Suppose Orrell might count...
    A sensible snub.

Sounds about right, can't remember the last time there was a neutral game at Wigan

I think the choice of venues is better than the last World Cup England hosted, there seems to be a nice mix of old and new locations. I think Coventry could have had 2 games rather than just one, but there is only limited games so you can’t make everyone happy. I also think the standard of the launch video was excellent, congratulations to the BBC and to RLWC2021. Looking forward to attending plenty of games!

England v New Zealand deciding test about three or four years back, Matty Smith m.o.m.

Seems strange not having a game there when there are two at Bolton.

And for the umteenth time, Orrell has been sold and Wigan have moved to the Robin Park Arena.

Yes we did have the Aussie game because i remember the weather was atrocious. I wouldn’t fancy standing on the Western Terrace at Leeds when it’s throwing it down blowing a gale and freezing.

Some interesting venues there, although it's a pity (and perhaps an indication of where the game is going to), that there is nothing in Wales or the South West this time round.

Maybe DW will step in if Workington don't finish their ground in time?
Seriously though, I hope this Wigan snub thing doesn't overshadow what supposed to be good news!

Is that the sound of black peas and pies being thrown out the pram? Better luck next time

Oh yes. I can see the funny side too, but I was thinking more of the sort of media coverage this will get. You can already see that in the BBC Sport link above.

5 live has mentioned the fact a semi is being played at the Emirate stadium in every sports bulletin , I have heard, since the announcement.

This really needs top class promotion if they want to sell tickets for multiple football stadiums. They've got the ball rolling today.

Massively optimistic venues which I feel we will struggle to get anywhere near full. Marketing and pricing will need to be spot on but I am not really disapointed with the ambition shown.

If we get 80% + of tickets sold it would be huge for the game.

In addition to that get every single game on Terrestrial TV. None of this premier sports garbage.
