Cue Wire asking for salary cap dispensation a la Luke Gale.

Either Patton at 7 for the season or Mamo at fullback and Ratchford in the halves. I doubt they’ll be able to sign a scrum half now.

I'd guess that's his career ended, I think he said he was retiring at the end of the season. Such a shame, one of my favourite players and one of the only ones I think Wigan made a mistake in letting go.

Bad news for Kevin, that could be his career.
That could be good news for Warrington with Austin, Ratchford and Patton.

They would be daft not to ask for dispensation. They could wait and see if anyone became available later in the season.if they had a problem through injury or loss of form in any position they would have cap space to sign them.

Real nasty one that. It can be a cruel sport at times.

    Best of luck to him.

Agreed, but I think it will be a coaching role after this.

That’s sad - as people have said, you’d have to suspect that that’s his playing days over. A talented player and competitor and, as Rogues said, I was surprised when Wigan let him go.

Sad end to his career, if that's the case. No professional should end the game this way, unfortunately in a contact sport, that's the nature of the beast. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope that he is able to play on in the future.

I'm quite happy thank you, certainly not lonely and I've always rated Kevin Brown. I saw him play in his first academy final v Hull in 2002 and think he should have been kept on at Wigan.
It's very sad that he probably won't leave the game on his terms.

I am sure it was Kevin Brown doing the commentary on our league app when England played the Aussie school boys. He came across really well and as you say his RL knowledge was second to none.

He used to gob off about how much he hated Saints, despite growing up in St Helens.

He reigned it in later in his career, though.

I used to play with kev when it was town team. He played for St Helens but he was signed for wigan. It was good to see someone from my age group who I played with go on to make it professionally. He's a good lad and it's a real shame to see him bow out like that if it's as bad as being reported.

I played with him for a couple of years at Crusaders too. Him and his family are all Wigan fans but I wouldn’t say he had a staunch hate for Saints. He very nearly signed for us at one point.

All the more reason mate, Brown is 34 yrs old. It’s obvious now that he’s not much going for him.
